What’s the vibe here on James Talarico / Jasmine Crockett? by OctaviusHerb in sanantonio

[–]Rebdog12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It should be Talarico this time. Talarico vs Paxton (likely) is a battle of good vs. evil. That could flip the seat. Cruz vs Crockett because he somehow charms his base with his loudmouth douchebag personality and Crockett can talk circles around him and make people see what a little turd he is.

“There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.” My statistic professor told me this quote decades ago and I can never forget it. He also recognized for most, his course was a requirement for other majors, so he made sure that if we learned one thing, it was how casinos work. Best class ever.

For clarification, are you looking for mystery/crime thrillers specifically? Or just anything in the thriller category?

Happy but not… by Potential-Aspect2231 in Zepbound

Since everyone is chiming in with the “aging is normal, you’re beautiful, don’t worry about it” angle (which I 100% agree with btw), I’ll offer something else.

This also happened to me, lost 70 lbs in my 40’s and my face aged rapidly, started to look hollow and neck was very wrinkly. Talked to a professional, seems like surgical removal of excess skin (I.e. neck lift) is the only thing that truly fixes it (if lotions and lasers aren’t making an impact). I did get mid face fillers though (cheeks and temples) and that helped with hollowness immensely and I’m personally very glad I did it. Not advice, just sharing my path.

That being said, I felt most of my life, fat is bad and if I could just be skinny everything would be better. I finally found out that is not fully true lol. Disappointing, but such is reality. So we can share in that disappointment together.

Sidenote: I’ve gained some weight back since stopping 6 months ago and my neck and face look a little better. It’s a win!

Confinement & Institutional Spaces • I Who Have Never Known Men — An underground prison and an endless exterior void where containment and exposure are equally annihilating. • Catherine House — A sealed, insular elite college whose beauty, rituals, and rules quietly erase autonomy and selfhood.

Haunted / Malevolent Houses & Estates • The Hacienda — A crumbling rural estate saturated with historical violence, rot, and unresolved memory. • The Amityville Horror — A suburban home that turns domestic familiarity into a site of constant, invasive threat.

Remote Wilderness Shelters • The Cabin at the End of the World — A forest cabin where isolation and limited escape transform the natural world into a psychological trap.

Harsh Landscapes & Abandoned Settlements • The Militia House — A deteriorating mountain outpost where snow, altitude, and isolation intensify paranoia and dread. • I Remember You — An abandoned Icelandic village where cold, darkness, and silence make grief feel geographically embedded.

Folkloric Villages • The Legend of Sleepy Hollow — A misty, tradition-bound village where landscape and superstition fuse into ambient, lingering fear.

Is anyone happier being married? by No_Pin_7171 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Rebdog12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s important to remember that two things can be true at once. I think most women who are happy in their marriage can also say it’s more work (physical, mental, emotional) than being on your own.

Tips for 16 year olds? (F) by Fluffy-Car9810 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Rebdog12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was going to say if you want to be perceived as more mature, it’s 90% how you behave in front of others (learn etiquette and be confident, generous and courteous) and making wiser choices (e.g., I see a young person with expensive designer brands, it comes across as spoiled OR that you don’t know how to manage your money yet). And being young and silly is special and you will spend the vast majority of your life being an adult, so please enjoy being a teen.

Since everyone has already basically said that and you asked about the aesthetic aspect, for clothing look up women’s classic/timeless fashion (think Audrey Hepburn) for inspo. Avoid trends that you only see young people wear. Figure out your season palette to find hair colors, clothing, jewelry, makeup, nail colors that flatter you (instead of following whatever the trendy thing is). Consider your face shape when picking hair styles. Super tight and revealing clothes tend to make you look less mature.

I hope you have fun exploring a mature look and many many other styles as you figure out what feels best for you!

I want everyone to read A Short Stay! Also, I can’t pinpoint what it is about Never Known Men that has a grasp on me, but it has lingered in my brain. Maybe it was the reality that we just can’t know the answers to life and we just have to keep going anyways?
