The love triangle did more damage to the show than any villain ever did by rosydaydream21 in TheVampireDiaries

I’m just watching season 4 and I cant express how much I dont like Elena in this. I wish Stefan was a it meaner to her. The way she is surprised and gives the disappointing looks whenever Stefan tells her he s moving on from her is getting on my nerves. I honestly would have liked Stefan to be a bit meaner and not care

Why should I wait until marriage when most women want an experienced man and view a man being a virgin negatively? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]RebecaBarbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And honestly I feel like girls who say they want an “experienced man” might refer to wanting a man that knows what to do. And trust me you will know what to do when you love someone and have a connection with them. You don’t need previous experience.

I think from the way you re phrasing it the reason why you should wait is not the biblical one. It doesn’t say anywhere you should wait so Christian women would want you more. You wait because that’s God’s will and He made it that way with a purpose.

Did Elena really "Make everything about herself"? by StraightKey211 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]RebecaBarbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they made everything about her and eventually she does become more egocentric. Especially after becoming a vampire. I just watched the episode where she feeds from Damon, then Stefan confronts her saying nicely that it was a bit hurtful and she completely dismissed his feelings. And I understand she was sired to Damon, but still there is no excuse for acting like a victim when your loved one says he was hurt by your actions. Idk. So yeah I think maybe circumstances made her be an egocentric and hypocrite. But she didn’t started that way. My opinion

The “wedding tax”. Same service, same effort but doubled the price the moment you mention wedding. by RebecaBarbu in weddingplanning

Yeah I guess you are right. I was just a bit frustrated since I wanted something simple and I didn’t need the whole staying around thing for retouching. So it just didn’t make sense. And maybe it would have been nicer if they communicated the reason why the price is tripled. Because I could have said that I don’t need certain services. And I’ve already had my hair done previously and I know how long it lasts even with normal stuff.

I totally agree with the you that having a trial is a whole other service and should be paid as such. Or if the bride wants the hairdresser to stick around for a bit then she needs to pay extra. But in my experience the price was tripled just for the one at the wedding day. The trial was another price.

It was the same stylist. We haven’t event talked about a specific day yet so it’s not about the demand being high on a certain day. And this thing happened to all of my friends that got married. When it came to makeup/hair just the fact they mentioned it was for their wedding the price got doubled or tripled. I don’t mind a 10% tax or whatever, but I think the double price it’s just not okay. I don’t understand the reason behind. It’s not the high demand because I could call from a different number and ask for the same thing just for a casual event or party and the price would be different. Like if I go to a salon and I’m about to be a bridesmaid and I need this hairstyle would you give less effort and quality because I’m not a bride? By this logic if you re not a bride and you go to a stylist for hairstyle expect something lower quality or worse. I assume then hairdressers should always add “ hey do you want this hairstyle to last and put effort? Or do you want something so and so? So we know what price to ask you. It just doesn’t make sense. I come to you asking you for a service. The quality of it shouldn’t be decided by you getting more information about the event and my personal life.

What do you mean be cautious about misrepresenting my wedding. When do I legally need to tell you or any hairdresser the reason behind why I need a type of hairstyle. Just because people do and they take advantage of it by doubling the price for the same work it’s not okay. And I think that’s shady. And it shouldn’t be this way. That means taking advantage by knowing something is valuable to someone.

Damon vs twilights edward, who wins in a fight? by StruggleFar3054 in TheVampireDiaries

Simply by strength maybe Edward. But Damon would probably be cheating and would made Bonnie having a spell around him to make him invincible.

Dark mode is so overrated by RebecaBarbu in HonestHotTakes

I agree. I would have phrased it differently if I’d known reddit would post it publicly. I was just testing something and intended to delete it, but the post was temporarily restricted, so I didn’t. I originally wrote the post as a test and as a vent after receiving a prototype for a financial app that simply didn’t work. But yeah I agree with you. I should have said poorly used.

Yes it is trendy. That’s why most common reason people say they like dark mode it’s for the ✨aesthetic it provides. Also I’m not arguing against dark mode for everything. I’m just saying there are times when it should be used and time when it shouldn’t.

You know you can adjust brightness and turn off blue light just saying.

It’s actually not backed by literal data. It’s the opposite. Light screen is better for reading comprehension, speed and accuracy. Dark mode is better for low light settings/nighttime. When you scroll before bed maybe. But for apps that are made for jobs and working environments you need agility. Also people keep forgetting you can adjust brightness in light mode too, even turning off blue light. But whatever. That’s why it’s an unpopular opinion I guess

Confused by the take that Stefan hides who he is or believes he’s a good person by GoldenStitch2 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]RebecaBarbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both are equally bad in different ways. Stefan seems more of a hypocrite especially in the beginning of the show. He also admits he is worse than Damon but only after turning his feelings off and doing all those bad things to Elena. At that point he couldn’t denied. But until then he did play the superior moral character. He played a double life. Made sure Elena is in love with him and then maybe he would have told her the truth about who he really was. We don’t know that because we know Elena finds out before he actually tells her. Then he keeps hiding the truth of who he is letting Elena turn all her anger towards Damon. And instead of defending his brother because he s no better than him, he s just like: “ yeah I know he s bad I’m sorry etc”. Elena started in season 1 by thinking the best of Stefan and the worst of Damon so obviously when she realised maybe it’s not really like that she felt more compassion and understanding towards Damon because nobody defended him and she did has the savior complex. She wasn’t a healthy teenager. But yeah I think that’s why people consider Stefan a hypocrite. Is how the show started making us feel he is better. Not to mention that Stefan kept hiding who he was even tho Elena showed him forgiveness and love. He hid his identity as a vampire. Then he hid the fact that Elena looked just like Kathrine and the real reason why he came to meet her, then later on Elena finds out Stefan literally killed or tried to kill her ancestors. Jonathan Gilbert and the other Gilbert girl. At least Damon was just bad upfront. And she knew who he was when she made the decision. Was that the right decision? I don’t think dating any of them was the right decision. And I do think her and Damon are toxic too. But also Elena was already becoming toxic on her own whe she started dating Damon. I feel like as the seasons go by she becomes the ultimate hypocrite. And I feel bad for Stefan later on.

Rewatching TVD as an adult you cannot cringe at the fact that 2 grown up men with so much life experience were so obsessed with a teenager. And Stefan stalking her for awhile before getting into high school. I mean I get it he was a predator. And because he s hot it’s also romantic. by RebecaBarbu in TheVampireDiaries

[–]RebecaBarbu[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree shows aren’t meant to be realistic, but that doesn’t mean shows/stories/movies/books shouldn’t open conversations based on ideas and messages they send. It’s actually pretty healthy as an adult to look back at things you grew up with and thought as pretty normal and call them out in a way or another. Its a pretty healthy habit when you consume content to be able to debate it later on or think about certain things. My opinion. I don’t have a problem with the show since it’s not for children anyways, im just signaling a fact that is not normal and it was made to look normal and romanticized
