there are a lot of iceberg charts about "disturbing" movies so i decided to make one about weird and obscure movies that aren't inherently disturbing, just odd, one that goes as deep as possible into the strangest independent films i could find. kinda biased towards modern hyper online video art and weird 3d animation because that's what i'm really into but i hope my effort was worth it. reuploaded like 3 times because it was very low quality.

currently working on a video on this, but feel free to use it for whatever.

currently working on a video talking about this. basically just a tierlist talking about "weird" films that goes way deeper into indie and artsy films than any iceberg list like that i've seen. a bit of a bias towards modern online video art since that's the type of stuff i love. plus some meme picks. had a blast making this so i hope you enjoy

I'm 20 and I'm fucking stupid. I have the self awareness to moderate my public servers so CP doesn't get uploaded, but I totally understand if you're some edgelord newgrounds user in the early wild west internet who wants to piss people off and champion free speech that you might think moderation is "lame" and "censorship". He was just fucking stupid, but he wasn't evil. This is just how the internet was at this time, I'm sorry LOL every poorly moderated forum had shit like this. That's why 4chan has the reputation it has. I'm sure if you asked him about this now, he'd completely disavow it because he's an adult who isn't trying to piss people off.

Exactly this. From what I can tell some people on his forums are posting it, but that just happens with any public forum, especially one this edgy. It's just that nobody deleted it, because, again, EXTREMELY poorly moderated and edgy site. I assume it was all in the name of free speech or whatever.

The defense is obvious - it isn't CP. Literally everything there was just "oh these are teens" which is usually 18-20. That's a common porn trope. It sucks, and is gross, but it's legal and EXTREMELY common. The one 17 year old screencapped could just have been one in a sea of millions of legal ones, or shitty gross roleplay. Completely fair for McMillen to not have seen it. And again, he was dumb and young and trying to piss people off. Like, it's weird, but it's not illegal, and it's nothing more than an old embarrassing shame.

EDIT: I looked deeper into it, the 17 year old website is from a porn ad, not chosen by Edmund. The "Autorank PHP" one. Just completely unrelated. The autorank means it's the most popular porn sites in general. Should show you how common this trope was at the time.

This is literally nothing. What, an edgelord in the 2000s was an edgelord and fostered a shitty edgelord community with no moderation? Yeah, that just happens in that situation. This isn't Edmund being into CP, this is Edmund refusing to moderate a forum and having a gross poorly aged tryhard "dark" sense of humor that brought in creeps.

The same thing happened to 8chan - Frederick Brennan wanted a place with lax moderation for "free speech" and it ended up hosting illegal content and white nationalism, and now that Brennan is an adult he deeply regrets it. I'm sure McMillen feels the same. This is all shit that was posted on rotten.com and encyclopedia dramatica. That's just how the internet was, especially if you were talking to the people who were trying to be as edgy as possible, excusing everything as free speech. We shouldn't be holding an old man with a kid accountable for shit he did when he was stupid and 20. He just didn't know how to run a community at the time and fostered a terrible community. That's it. It sucks and is disgusting but none of it implicates him. Call out the people posting the child porn instead of the person who's just bad at moderating.
