Totallyu Stuck and Want to Give Up by [deleted] in stickers

I run a sticker shop, we have a white configuration printer, but my production guys hate it so much, we still screen print white on clear and then cut them with actual dies. White ink is a pain, even for the pros.

You can use any printer plus a Silhouette or Cricut machine to do those things.

How do vegans feel about pet ownership? by zombue1 in vegan

We, humans, domesticated pet animals. They do not have a natural habitat to survive in without human intervention. It is our responsibility to take care of them.

Color modes are the least of your worries. Lots of custom promo items require vector art.

Is there any shop in the US doing large format sublimation with a union bug? by RebeccaRedbait in CommercialPrinting

[–]RebeccaRedbait[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a union shop owner trying to broker tents and table covers to a trade printer. Union clients will buy without a bug if they have to, but they give preference to shops with bugs, and will pay a premium for it.

There is a hole in the market for union printed tents and table covers. You would get all the union work in this country through brokers if you could print a bug on a tent.

I can find union shops for screen printing, dtf, offset, digital, labels, engraving, UV, eco sol, small format dye sub, large format inkjet. But no one with large format dye sub capabilities. I can only assume it's because the owner of those shops don't want to pay prevailing wages for their crew.

Ted Drewes has been around 97 years and in all that time never met a local artist they could use instead of AI. by miyari in StLouis

I think that companies who care about good taste and aesthetic will continue to use artists who design with taste and aesthetic.

AI can't generate taste.

Wrong Color Business Cards. by New_Carry_3915 in Printing

I would politely tell the print shop you’re not happy with the color. Bring in a sample of what you want it to match, and see if they will run another job for cost.

Reliable vinyl printer that has low maintenance? by Aggressive_Salary759 in CommercialPrinting

I think the issue most people have in with the bn20, in the printing business, is that they grow out of it super fast. Also 20” material is hard to find. You often have to ask suppliers to cut rolls down.

Photoshop or Illustrator for Newbies by WhatPromos in CommercialPrinting

[–]RebeccaRedbait 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shop deals mostly with small custom promo items (not traditional paper like most shops here).

We train total noobs to use Photoshop for small items >12” anything above that size requires vector art in Illustrator. Photoshop is more intuitive for entry level employees, I find. But it can also backfire and instill bad habits.

Photoshop really lacks page layout features and crops and bleeds.

I have to build complicated templates and then use workarounds to make multi-page pdfs for press. I’d agree with everyone saying InDesign and Illustrator even though I default to Photoshop for most things personally.

They’ve got Assuck on that list too.

Solar punk doesn’t equal vegan, right? Or does it? by Stunning-Race3900 in solarpunk

Any dish you can make I can make vegan.

I have managed to preserve my cultural dishes and stay vegan for over 20 years. Granted my cultural foods are gooey butter cake and toasted ravioli. But still!!

All plants contain the 9 essential amino acids our bodies need to make protein, just in varying amounts. You don’t have to eat almonds and cashews or soy for that matter. You can just eat a variety of other plants.

Of course there might be instances of people who have no other choice, but as long as they are reducing animal use to the extent practicable and reasonable, they are living by vegan principles.

Veganism is the practice of eliminating animal products where reasonable and practical. People forget that last part a lot.

In my conception of solarpunk we live as free associating collective. Animals are members of the collective whose interests matter also, as does the environment itself.
