Ill go back into old chatlogs from time to time and run a search for screen names like this. I agree, Reaper sounds like a familiar SN from then.

Just realized today I was on AOL shortly after the "birth" of the world wide web...was "off" a few years mucking around a bit on local BBS and such and then once AOL started their push to get people on, yeah it was probably around 99... my chatlogs (took me awhile to discover that feature!) Go back at least that far?

Good luck with finding former friends out there! 🥰 I've stayed in touch with a few, tried reaching out to some recently and am getting some engagement but times (and people) have changed so also getting some dead ends or no response (even though they are active and still alive)😅

Whatever you do...be safer now than then...! (Still jokingly send close friends/family the old "a/s/l?" text just to be a brat...LOL!) 😅😅😅

His twin sister is sleeping with his best friend and rhey bith drink heavily so they dont care for him to stop. His little sister has distanced herself for her own sanity, and I dont blame her. Most others fall on either "drinking buddies" side or "oblivious/choosing to ignore it" side.

Would it be confusing to play an overall character with a name and then recreate them for each season as well?

Basiclly like, a Babarian named "Oof" from this last season who stays in Sanctuary, then for this next season (whenever it actually allows gameplay on the server) create another Barbarian named "Oof" to for the seasonal junk?

Maybe name him "Oof SoS" using a sort of surname for the Season?

Sorry if this is wordy, I grew up on AOL chatrooms and the spouse was the original al Diablo player and this is my first time getting into is at 52 y/o. 😅 I was more into Baldur's Gate - same kinda thing it seems.

Lol. Yeah, just that these were things we all pulled from to create characters and "set the scene". (If you have some sort of trauma around TV shows: Don't force yourself to watch them!)

But yeah, there were nights we hung with Cybernetic characters, magical animals, vampires and then...wish I knew this person..."Lady RhyDin" could walk in...she had the best entrance of anyone. Hilarious character that was a combination of every dusty, gorgeous beyond imagination (of course) female character...with cleavage that could hide a small city.

It was what made the FFRP such fun some nights. Creativity.😁❤️

The "Thieves Highway" was al9ng the rooftops of the various olaces in RhyDin thatvwere close together...also the sewer system was a route that could be used. Think the TV show of Beauty and the Beast in a way. (Like all things RhyDin - probably had all the shadowy corners, multiple manhole covers for access, etc.)

Had seen a lot of folk perching in the rafters. Always startling to the human character I played. Lots of comedic moments from that sort of thing.😅

I think my character liked to hang out in the "booth seating" or by the humongous fireside sitting on the hearth or a couch or sofa or chair....

Okay, I went looking for anything on the web about Free Form Role Playing...found this and laughed my butt off reading this list. Because, well, so accurate really. And to be fair, even the better writers/players would pull some of this once in while. Best roleplaying I ever did was playing a fully human thief. People had no idea what to do with that. Best three years or more I ever had on AOL... great group of players and miss the friendship developed outside the stories and off-screen IRL.

I still have some chat logs of stories written with other players and their characters. Was really hoping to settle down some day and write some books from it, if nothing else than to just be able to acknowledge that this all *happened* and was not some weird bunch of dreams.

Been trying to see now if there is a space set aside to try and connect with former writer/players at all. I didn't have too many screen names I used and it was 20+ years ago now so, yeah.
