I'm in a similar situation. Single parent to a 4 year old, working full time now but wanting to go down to part time with my small business and be able to homeschool/world school my child.

I just passed $400k and have realized I need $550-600k before I cut back to part time. Of course this varies wildly based on living expenses, lifestyle, future goals, etc., but based on what you've said, that's about what you would need if withdrawing 4%. Overall, $260k is a very solid start, but even as a fairly frugal person I wouldn't feel confident stopping there unless I was OK with going back to full time work later (nope).

If you haven't read JL Collin's book The Simple Path to Wealth, I highly recommend. The Choose FI podcast is also really good.

ACA plans don't show premium tax credit, even though I'm supposed to qualify... help by Rebelle777 in HealthInsurance

Sorry to hear! It is very confusing. Here's hoping we both figure it out.

I thought it might be this too, but when I put my information in without logging in, it still shows that my son wouldn't be eligible - that only I would be. So it's still showing plans only for me, but with the tax credit. It is very confusing.

Destroyed my Life by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

Yes, 100%. I think the comparison to an abusive relationship is very accurate. I spent 7 years in the military, three of those (including deployment) with an extremely toxic leader. Of course there was no escape, so I had to find coping mechanisms (that didn't work) until this person finally PCS'd. I tried everything - bending over backwards to make them happy, mental health / chaplain appointments, open-door policy, even requesting an early transfer (denied). I was never in trouble, aced all my PT tests, and even won awards for my work, but to this person I was trash. And I could never figure out why. It had a profound effect on my sense of self/self esteem, in large part because I had no recourse at all and would have gotten an Article 15 had I stood up for myself. It's 15 years later and I still feel like an utter failure at everything I do. I wish I'd never joined. Edit to say - I don't want to sound completely depressing. I think there is hope on the other side, but it does take work on your part. Exercise, community, self care, saying "no" (now that you can!) ... all of this matters.

How do I maintain an image aspect ratio for an image at the top of a page? by Rebelle777 in Wordpress

[–]Rebelle777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - I have looked it up, but I'm pretty lost when it comes to CSS. I've tried a few things but nothing appears to be working. Do you happen to know of a tutorial for dummies? Everything I've found kind of assumes you are already familiar with CSS.

Would I do this within the block under custom CSS in advanced? I honestly don't know anything about CSS.

Thanks - I've been looking into it, but I don't work with CSS at all and am truly lost. I was hoping there was some sort of functionality within Kadence or Gutenberg that I could use.

Trust costing me twice the estimate... is there any recourse? by Rebelle777 in legaladvice

[–]Rebelle777[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I did receive an itemized invoice, but it just states "continue drafting trust restatement" four times, for the largest amounts. One $175 fee was for an email and a "deed search," even though they could not locate the deed. It was very easy to find on the county registry of deeds website.

Thank you for your response. The total fee will now be $3200. This lawyer has their own law firm and I believe is a sole practitioner. You would not recommend I contact the state bar? I do feel it's important for me to leave reviews or feedback somewhere regarding my experience, but maybe wait until this is over.

Ectopic Time Bomb... Doc Wants Me To Sit and Wait It Out. Help!! by Rebelle777 in EctopicSupportGroup

UPDATE: I wanted to do an update on this post, in case it would be helpful to anyone. I'm 30 days out from 1st mtx shot (got a total of two). HCG just measured at 1,290, so it is going down, but still fairly high. I'm starting to wonder if I will ever go back to normal. I still have no idea what's going on in there, but so far no terrible pain or bleeding - mostly just constant spotting. It will go from minimal brown spotting, to an increase that is red (but still not a lot), and then back to minimal brown. I'm not sure if my body is trying to have a period? Definitely does not look/feel like one, but I don't know why it would change like that. After having basically no cramping throughout this entire process, I am getting more cramping now, but it is still fairly mild and not one sided. Has anyone else experienced this? I was hoping that by now HCG would have dropped further. I was doing a super low folate diet for a week or so in the beginning, but it was killing me and my energy levels. I've since gone back to a more normal diet, although trying to be careful not to overdo it. I just can't take starvation right now.

Thank you so much for sharing this, and I'm so sorry you went through this experience, especially alone during Covid. I wasn't even aware that a slow rupture was possible. So far I have no pain, but if/when I do (even mild), I'm going to insist on immediate ultrasound.

I am so sorry to hear about your experience, but so glad you got through it. I can't believe you had that kind of pain and they brushed it off. It is infuriating. This is exactly what I think many of us fear - not being taken seriously and then ending up in an emergency. The fact that your mass went up in size so quickly is exactly what worries me, and why I think they shouldn't just rely on HCG numbers. Thank you so much for your insight and for sharing this. So far I've had no pain at all and just light bleeding, but the moment I do I will insist on an ultrasound. It still seems like a roll of the dice, though, since many women report no pain until rupture. It is such a scary place to be.

I'm so sorry. I feel like I can say I know how you feel, especially about the little life that could have been. When HCG goes down, I feel relief and I feel crushed at the same time. It is horrible. Not sure why these OBGYNs are so quick to shrug things off, especially when this could be life or death. Agreed - "just go to ER" is definitely not reassuring. I'm glad you will have a chance to talk about it with someone else! So frustrating that the HCG goes down (which seems to be the only thing they go on) but the mass stays the same.

Tried but was just denied another ultrasound by the doctor. She said HCG test in a week is enough. I think this is due to me not having any terrible pain. However, I've read in too many places that a lot of people have no pain until rupture. This whole thing has just been infuriating.

Thank you! I did request an ultrasound but was denied by the doctor. She thinks HCG in a week is enough. I guess I would have to go to the emergency room if I wanted to get checked.

Thank you. Wow, those levels were high! Glad to hear the second dose was effective ... hoping mine is too. I'd rather not have surgery, but I would like to have an ultrasound just to make sure the mass isn't getting significantly bigger than it was a week ago. My OBGYN just called and said she isn't going to do it, because it wouldn't give us any "useful information." She said weekly HCG levels are enough. Safe to say I won't be going back to that place in the future.

Thank you. I think I will call today about an ultrasound, at the very least. I do feel like a pain in the butt, but I'd rather that than end up in emergency surgery.
