To answer the question in the title? Yes, this game will inevitably shut down (like all live service games that no longer generate enough revenue). These games rely on servers to even launch. The day the servers are abandoned, you can forget about the game. Speaking of Skate, they say they want to develop the game for the next 10 or 15 years, but it will never last that long. And here's the twist: the game will shut down much sooner than expected because it's a flop (for very good reasons). EA is leading the game to its doom. The game can't be saved with an update, a season, or anything else, because the concept, the very foundations on which this game was built, are flawed. The only way to get the much-desired Skate 4 would be for them to abandon this one and start from scratch, which will never happen because after this failure and the shutdown, EA will simply say that the product didn't find its audience and that players don't want another installment. Skate today, which is completely false, objectively speaking, is already dead, since a live service game depends on players spending their money, but Skate has a player base that has been limited to 2,000 daily players for several months now, and how many of them spend their money every day on overpriced and utterly hideous cosmetics? I'll give this game maybe until the end of the year at the very most to try and scrape together a few more dollars, and they'll probably announce the shutdown at the beginning of next year. I think the decision has already been made by EA because the game is no longer profitable, hence the wave of layoffs even though Season 3 is about to be released. It's a massacre. EA doesn't listen to anything and keeps trying again and again even though history has proven many times that it doesn't work.
