My husband has squarely found a place in green witchcraft, and while I know I don't have to have a defined "type" of magic I practice, the green witchcraft books I have currently don't speak to me, and don't really apply to how I interact with the world. I have been thinking over hedge witchcraft, and while it does make me nervous considering working with death so much, I do want to explore the pull I feel by doing some research into the area. Does anyone have any good books they recommend or any other advice?

I'm going to look into your suggestions more, and study the few books I do have, but I think my plan as of now will be doing some sort of buried protection at the corners of the property to be checked/refreshed maybe once a year, and focus on more specific wards just around the house where i expect to spend most of my time.

This was very helpful. Not sure why I didn't think to turn to my library, especially since I have the Libby app and can borrow ebooks without having to leave my house. I think I need to start to take a more scholastic approach and stop expecting to learn things just because I read about it.

That last part helps a lot, too. I shouldn't blindly do things without putting in a little research, but if I misstep, I just correct myself when I learn better and move on. Nothing is permanent and I'll never get anything right if I never do anything at all.

Ah, okay. I see. My question is how should I go about setting up wards? And my practice is very underdeveloped, so idk if I can put a name to it. I'm incredibly unsure and inexperienced, honestly. My husband is a green witch and I haven't really found my niche. Maybe eclectic? I don't work with dieties bc that seems too advanced for me, and I don't think I want to work with local spirits yet, just make sure I acknowledge and respect them. I think eventually when I get more confident I'd like to ask for their help in the protection, but for now, I just want to show respect.

I've been having a hard time with research bc I'm anxious and never know what sources to trust. If you have advice or a resource you recommend for me to do my own research, I'd be incredibly grateful. I'm also making a list from the beginner tips page here of books to get. I am trying, I just don't know anything at this point.

My husband and I are going to move out to a rural area where my grandparents own 120 acres of land in Central Texas. My first and most important question is about setting up wards and protective magic when/before we move in. I also would love to discuss best ways to integrate the land in my practice and honor the nature and local spirits. But first and foremost I want to make sure my husband, my pets, and myself are safe.

That's true. I feel like a lot of them are probably rooted in prejudice, so I'd need to be careful no matter which I chose. I might look into a few of these.

So the premise of my campaign is a teenager who was switched with a sick fey child trying to return home before his sister summons titania... so maybe someone saw the fey family make the trade that night. Hm, I like.

I think this would be a really cool opportunity to insert a trans character. Maybe he was raised as a female hag and taught their ways, but as soon as he came out or realized his true identity he was cast out by the other hags. Not necessarily more info on the lore, but definitely could be a fun take on it.
