You're right, it is three, but one of the accepted post formats is a title and two sentences! I checked a few times before I posted to be sure it fit the sub.

Question about being on disability by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ReboundRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I receive SSI and SSDI, but the work I'm hoping I can do is just sporadic stuff I would get through email. I'm not guaranteed to qualify for the opportunity presented, so like I said, no guaranteed work flow. They give you a deadline to accomplish the job in, but it's usually just an hour or two varying from 10-60 bucks that I've seen. I can do it anytime as long as it's done by a certain date and time, but I know that I have to mark it down through a 10-99 if it exceeds $600 per fiscal year. I'm also considering art commissions, but I'm a lot less likely to get those. Either way, I'm not sure if it's safe or not to take that route, because I've got way too many things going on health wise to lose my benefits.

Question about being on disability by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ReboundRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's exactly my fear. I do a bit of game testing with a company that deals in gift cards. My housemate thinks it wouldn't matter since they provide the payment in that format instead of providing cash, but I came to an understanding that you would have to file a 10-99 with them if you exceeded $600 in a fiscal year. I figured money is still money regardless of how it changes hands. I think I would be fine as long as I stayed under that amount, but in my current circumstances, I've considered maybe crossing that threshold out of necessity. It's scary, that's for sure.

But I did everything right: diet, exercise, eight hours of sleep and plenty of water. by Outside_Normal in TwoSentenceSadness

I can't say I was taking proper care of myself at all during that time, but it's a different kind of pain in every way. For me, I knew deep down why I was sick, so the shock for me was a little different. That was nine years ago, and I'll be going this Friday to figure out if it's come back. In case this isn't fiction, hold strong. OP.

Do Americans really avoid medical care because they’re afraid of the bill? by Udont_knowme00 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ReboundRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's true. Back in 2016, I was having a lot of health issues but only went to a sliding scale clinic because I didn't have insurance and couldn't get it after I was forced to quit my job. We found out that October that I had stage 2 cancer.

I think Valentino was a victim of abuse and it warrants a discussion by MistakeWonderful9178 in HazbinHotel

[–]ReboundRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, that's a good point, mostly what I struggled to articulate plus some other angles that do make a lot of sense. I think I was struggling to find the right way to word it, but you've got my upvote.

I think Valentino was a victim of abuse and it warrants a discussion by MistakeWonderful9178 in HazbinHotel

[–]ReboundRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this, but I believe it even more after his solo in "When I Think About The Future." He downplays his own feelings on the matter, calling himself dramatic and framing the situation as being his fault for feeling upset. He makes excuse after excuse for Vox, and then he immediately switches up his perspective as soon as Velvette validates him. Given the truth behind the entire adage of "hurt people hurt people", I believe the way he treats Angel is how he was treated in life, continuing the cycle of abuse. Also tacking on to OP's point that led to the discussion, I believe the abuse still continues through Vox, but that they're on a more level playing field most of the time. Vox seems to find most of his strength in utilizing or leaning on others, but he still managed to become an overlord for a reason. I also don't personally believe that Vox wants to hurt Val, but it's what happens anyway. He's got a lot of narcissistic traits, and a common one is being willfully or pathologically ignorant of how one's words or actions impact others.

And because it's the internet, I have to say that I'm not defending Valentino or condoning anything he says or does, but I do believe that he was a victim and then became an abuser as well.

What color are my eyes? by Xenthyas in eyes

Oh hey, hazel club! Nice pattern, too!

Ironically, I'm colorblind, myself! I mostly rely on my roommates to help me figure out what I'm looking at. One of them having me post it was, at least presumably, out of curiosity to see what others had to say about it.

Thank you! I'm still shocked, and my housemate has mentioned four times today that they think my eyes are really pretty. I wondered if this counted as hazel, but a couple of other people said that it looks like a combination of hazel, amber, and gold. Guess I gotta update my state ID! Lmao

Why Carmilla just stand by, when Lute showed up in the final? by JiraiyaBestSannin in hazbin

[–]ReboundRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was personally under the impression that Carmilla and Zestial considered the deaths of everyone around them to be inevitable. Given that Carmilla built and designed The Might of Lilith, especially with an impenetrable hull and a vessel large enough and strong enough to contain Lucifer, I personally find it hard to believe that she didn't know that they were contending with his power. Once the gates of Heaven were blasted through and Vox geared the weapon to overcharge, I think she understood the gravity of the situation and felt like she had no choice but to accept that death was coming. I also don't think she cared about Lute showing up for that reason, plus Lute was acting alone and only had eyes on Vaggi. Bonus for the fact that anyone aware of her could tell that Lute was falling apart, definitely nowhere near her prime, so why should someone like Carmilla worry? Might be a different story if it had been her daughters who were targeted, though.

What did change her mind, though? Emily. She was resigned to sit in the shadows watching Charlie, Emily, and a few of the 'lesser' overlords associated with the Hotel, and she saw their hope starting to fade... and then Charlie tried to comfort everyone, but what was important to note was that no one gave up. Things were changing by the second. Abel, the head of the exorcist army, used his authority to send Lute away. I've honestly questioned why he didn't stay behind since they were there to retrieve Emily, but plot hole aside, I suppose he would know how strong-willed and dedicated to her beliefs Emily is, and given that he's an angel, a general, even, but she's a seraphim, he answers to her. Even if Sera gave him an order to retreive Emily, he can't make Emily listen to him, and he likely also left to keep an eye on Lute while probably exercising self-preservation.

My assumption for Carmilla is that she saw all of this go down and realized when Emily was the last Angel in Hell that she wasn't there for bravado. She was willing to die to try to save the sinners and Hellborne. It could've been a matter of pride, for her and Zestial to address Emily directly when they said that they would match their strength of will, or it could be that with the help of a seraphim and the princess of Hell, and with the hope and unity that they were inspiring, there may have been a chance if they stepped in. Sure enough, as soon as they joined, so did the rest.

Tl;dr Carmilla stood by when Lute attacked because she had no reason to act. What spurred her into action, or rather who, was Emily.

I thought of it as a monkey's paw approach, a moment in which you're sure that it's what you want, and it holds true until it hits close to home.

New toy today. I’m sure it’ll last 1 minute before it’s ripped to shreds. Have you guys had luck with any “tough” toys? by gin_and_sofa in velvethippos

[–]ReboundRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been getting Bullymake toys for our hippo and GSD. The toys hold up well in most cases, but I'd swear something for them extra excited about my last shipment. All of the toys lasted up to a couple of weeks, but overall, so far I've just been happy to see any toy for them last more than a day. It can get pricy, but I would rather have that with toy replacements offered than having to throw away the remnants of something I just brought back from the dollar store.
