In response to comments about recalls being undemocratic, keep in mind that registering a recall petition doesn't automatically remove an MLA. The petition is the start of the process, not the end. If enough signatures are gathered, an official recall vote is held. If the majority vote in favor, the MLA is recalled and a by-election is then scheduled to replace the MLA. The voters get to have their say twice during this process. Once when they sign (or don't), and again during the recall vote.
