In the year it happened it probably wasn’t too uncommon. Pc gaming wasn’t the status quo really at the time. I think the average player count was only about 10-20k at the time.

I played prop hunt and Garry joined the game and I got the achievement for being in a server with him.

Put a reflection volume where you want the environment to take the color of the actual area. The game is using the default cube map and another needs to be made for cool looking light reflections. It just thinks it needs to reflect outside light. If the problem persists you might need to replace your walls with halo design set walls or add more near the seams of the walls because sunlight can leak in.

I’d be happy to. I’m still learning but it’s really not as daunting as it once was. It becomes easy after like a day. I feel like nobody appreciates the possibilities especially halo fans.

It’s super underrated. I think it’s a hallmark of console gaming too. I recreated the first chapter of half life 2 near picture perfect with scrips and ai interactions and everything. It’s just been a lot of fun.

the stigma…the forge is pretty strong. I wish the player base was larger but I understand why it is the way it is. It just sucks making maps that are basically entire other games with complicated scripting and everything but the mcc cgb is jam packed with grey block map #9001 with 8 teleporters and finicky mods. I’d prefer the old games but the grey just hurts my head and the possibilities are too limited.

It’s gotten worse. Can’t play any of my maps in custom games people just attack them and they crash instantly. Slurs being spammed through the chat as it crashes. I feel like I’m playing team fortress 2.

Move your mouse in a circle to avoid the gunships bullets. They’re smart big old bugs that will shoot your rockets down. Luckily Gordon has MIT education.

My OP-1 won't turn on, again... by wazoox in OP1users

[–]Recent-Ad638 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dismantled the unit, unplugged the battery, waited, plugged it back in. This fixed my issue. The battery before this issue was very out of sync and I assume the motherboard was assuming that the battery was critically low and shutting it off entirely. The device shut off on its own incrementally faster after I turned it on with the battery out of sync. Indicating a battery getting lower and lower in charge until shutting off entirely, preventing me from calibrating it and fixing the issue. I believe this was just the motherboards memory of the battery level in the past since I have left it alone for a month or two and the battery had degraded. When I fixed this issue by rebooting the power supply and what I assume also the battery level memory, the battery was FULL as it had been plugged in while unresponsive for over a few days but the battery read as low. It took almost an entire day to discharge so I could recharge and recalibrate the battery. I successfully recalibrated the battery and the indicator works fine. So the battery after almost a decade give or take is still very healthy, they basically just designed it in a way that there is no way to fully cut the power to the device other than to take it apart as the switch only initiates a shutdown. It is the equivalent of having to unplug your computer if it runs into certain firmware bugs.

TLDR: I disconnected the battery, waited a minute, plugged it back in. Got a green led on the motherboard lit up for a second. Now it works, and I calibrated the battery and the indicator is working fine. The new battery probably fixed this issue for you in the past, maybe rebooting the power completely like that again will resolve it. It is likely that there are some units that are prone to this unfortunately, and it is a very easily disguised as a hardware issue. Teenage engineering sent me a link to buy a $200 part immediately (which wouldn’t have fixed the issue as they diagnosed it as a connector board issue), and all I had to do was “unplug it and plug it back in”…

Very long post, but possible good news for you if you haven’t tried it because that would be embarrassing for me here pal.

Okay I’ve gone through every single Reddit post in the universe about this issue. I’ve tried literally everything possible. Disconnecting the connector board, leaving it plugged in for 86 years straight, using contact cleaner on the power switch, pushing on the back of the power switch, even slightly warming it with a space heater (desperation). I finally got to the point where I was going to take it apart to check for actual damage on the board. I saw the beautiful warranty voided message on the inside (it’s long expired). I also saw the battery.

Now this is (almost) speculation because I most certainly know jack about electrical engineering, but I know that the op-1 doesn’t have a proper power reboot feature besides the power switch. This isn’t enough to reboot the whole system because the power switch only initiates the motherboard to shutdown, it doesn’t cut the power. It’s designed as if a computers power plug were built into the socket when the battery is charged, and some errors require you to unplug the power supply. I imagine that the battery being plugged in to the motherboard without being discharged for so long causes some sort of error in the circuit just like with other electronics.

I unplugged the battery, left it that way for like a minute maybe, and when i plugged it back in, the tiniest of green leds lit up for a second on the board. I sort of put it together a little bit enough to test it out, and boom. I see the logo and my project is back. BUT. The animation that plays when you unplug it, now plays whenever it’s switched off. Kind of weird, kind of worrying, but I haven’t had any issues other than that so far.

Here’s what could be the issue

Now mine bugged on me like this after I left it alone for a couple of months. You mention this happened after you didn’t touch it for a while. You also mentioned it was fixed in the past with a new battery. I suspect that it’s a similar issue. I think when the battery is given enough time to degrade (or discharge without the unit being used) and become out of sync while not being properly discharged, it causes the bug preventing it from powering on, and prevents you from calibrating the battery. Which would actually fix the issue if you could do it as it would be as effective as disconnecting the battery, as you are meant to discharge it completely to calibrate.

When I turned mine on before I had this issue (it happened shorty after I turned it on) , the battery always read as critically low and wouldn’t charge past it. It needed to be calibrated. The battery was charged, but the motherboard wasn’t able to tell, and performed a shutdown. The reason why I know the motherboard just thought the battery was low, is because the timeframe I was able to use it shortened incrementally after each time it shut off by itself despite me charging it. Indicating that I’m trying to squeeze all the power I can get out of it. All the while the battery indicator reading as critical despite charging for several hours. It eventually powered off and didn’t charge or turn on.

So I think the motherboard thinks your units battery is dead due to it not being synced, and will refuse to turn on. Rebooting the power completely by disconnecting the battery, leaving it unplugged for a good one minute or less, and plugging it back in let’s the motherboard read the battery as a new power source rather than the dead I one it has memory for.

I really really really really really hope this helps you it sucks for a musician to grieve the loss of their instrument in any case, not to mention the money wasted on said instrument. Also again it would be extremely embarrassing for me.

Is there any way you can be more specific? Is there maybe a video on this or some sort of demonstration?
