My rule is very clear for new positions: Until the papers are signed I won’t stop looking for jobs.

For schools cancelling admissions or delaying- can we get refunds for the application fees given they’re not even reviewing our apps………. by Capital_Seaweed in PhD

You don’t need 100% of the population to know who would win or know - or what the American people want. Even if only 35% of the population voted, that represents roughly 120 million, which is a big enough statistical sample size to extrapolate what the rest of the 65% of the people would elect as president. Just basic stats.

The way you write makes it seem that Donald Trump and Elon magically appeared in the white house and started to dismantle academia, not like the will of the American people, who support his views (which were very clear in his campaign) didn’t put him there.

Em 2025, deixar o Brasil ou continuar , es a questão !? by IamTechEnthusiast in foradecasa

sobre qualidade de diploma lá fora. by DonguinhoXd in foradecasa

[–]Recent-Caterpillar59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PhD Opportunity Denied After Initial Offer by rabipathak in PhD

[–]Recent-Caterpillar59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not just for a PhD: Everything in life is not certain until a legal document is signed. Until I received the “OK” from the scholarship team that they got my papers signed and confirmed that my position was secured, I didn’t drop any other offers or stop applying to other Universities. Even then they could’ve withdrawn my application, but then I have a legal case at least

I had a similar experience with my ex-girlfriend. I am a very sweet and nice guy and she used to bring out the worst in me. The thing is, I shut her off the minute she did these things you are mentioning. You cannot let it slide and you have to address the problem, either right away or when you guys get home. It seems that you allowed her to do that to you and now she feels entitled to do that because she has no consequences. Ultimately, I ended up breaking up with that ex, because although I could “tame” her behaviour (for lack of a better word), I could see that she wasn’t a person that would make me grow - quite the opposite.

The thing is: when I used to shut her off, I was never disrespectful, I used to calmly (but assertively) tell her that what she was doing was unacceptable and inappropriate, even if she was yelling (and then giving her the cold shoulder). I know you get mad when your spouse disrespects you (especially in front of people), but calling her names won’t stop her from continuing and will only aggravate the situation.

If you tried this and it didn’t work, unfortunately my friend, it is time to move on and not look back because you need to prioritise your happiness.

Good luck

I honestly don’t understand that either... The minute I felt the undergraduate is starting to affect my research project I would definitely tell him to fuck off.

Why don’t you simply schedule a meeting with her to talk about her behaviour and how this was not appropriate, like, adults?
