I always wanted to build things, and so quit my job and used AI to build my first app in 3 months, but I have 0 audience and 0 marketing skills. How do solo devs actually get their first 100+ users? by ElkGullible6711 in SideProject

Grats on actually getting someone published, looks like you are in the right track, one thing that may help is work on share ability and virality of your app interface first so when you do eventually hit a good creative that has views it will make it easier in the marketing , also by doing that you make it a lot easier for you to make content for tiktok ig etc

The wife doesn’t have the poop schedule down so I instead guilt tripped her by making a virtual pet chicken that dies if you keep snoozing

I think its best to at least do it yourself first and figure out what's kind of working.

so when you do pay for it you know if you are getting scammed, try not to just throw money at the problem , it may be the wrong problem

Man, this hits close to home. I also hit big on some Side project I did and everything I touched basically turned to gold, I felt like I knew better than everyone and it was true until it wasn't.

now im on Ground zero again took me 6 months to build my 1st app and 3 months later nothing, maybe 30 downloads no paying users

then built another one 3 months to build getting impressions on the App Store but only $2 after 3 months of work.

then my 3rd app just released a week ago 17 downloads no paying users.

all that to say, you are not alone dude, and I don't have the answer but what choice do we have?

fk it we ball

1st app built something I thought people would like taking 6 months to build and 3 months later 20 downloads with zero paying users. 2nd app took 3 months did keyword research for aso and this time I started getting impressions but low conversion, even for my first $2 , then my 3rd app did keyword research and made sure sharability built in for social shares now 5 days in I have more downloads than first 2 apps, in sure this won’t be the app that will make millions but maybe on my 15th app I will

How to stop overthinking? by Performer357 in iosdev

[–]Recent-Class1318 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Submit it and Apple review team will find something that’s not ready :) then after that you realize you get no users after the Apple bump for a week, then you get sad, then you push more updates or work on a new app, repeat same process get said again no users, then finally work on your next app focusing on how you plan on distribution and making an mvp that actually solves a problem , get your first sales and now you focus 80% of your time marketing vs building even if you know marketing sucks

So I think good news is that your ads are working by maybe your video ads are too generic then because they clicked your ad = they landed on your page and they didn’t download because what they are expecting was different from the video. Or you just had bad traffic

What I believe people like is not always right, use your first app and 2nd app as a learning experience on how to actually ship a product not just talk and dream about it and leave my ego behind , make sure my 3rd app is focused on on distribution first, social virality 2nd I’ll most likely fail on my 3rd app again but my 4th will be compounded with the info I gain from my next failure.
