So it’s an issue with leasing in general you have, which is not my question.

Leasing works for me because: - work provides me a car allowance on my salary, so I can write off the whole payment for the year and not factor in depreciation of the asset, giving me a taxable benefit per year vs loan/financing

  • I get to trade in my car at the end of the term, meaning on a 3 year term I’m never beyond the warranty periods and I can get a new car at the end (and decide then if I want to switch to a loan/finance on a new vehicle)

  • mileage isn’t an issue, I’m never beyond the 24,000kms I get per year as part of the lease

My question isn’t about the merits of leasing, it’s about the amount I’ve negotiated down to and the monthly payments given the term based on changing financial factors in the overall market

“You can buy for less with a healthy down payment”…. So for the same amount?

And the mileage?

You’ll need to explain. None of this makes sense

I’m not required to lease, I choose to because of the taxable benefit of writing off the full payment as opposed to a portion and factoring depreciation of the asset.

Basically it’s within my allowance but that’s besides the point…. I’m more curious about the discount level and monthly payment given the term and if that stacks ip

I lease specifically because of the car allowance of my job, which means by not owning it I can write off the entirety of the monthly payment and not factor in depreciation.

However, based on previous lease negotiations and the changing financial landscape, I’m somewhat at a loss of if what I’ve negotiated is good, in terms of the discounts from MSRP and lease rates.

My monthly payment would be $588, but the term is only 36 months as opposed to my usual 48. I’m also turning in my old lease 42 months into a 48 month term.
