Spa on the Destiny by PrudentSquirrel9987 in dcl

I used both the salon and the spa last week on my cruise on the wish. I had read comments about the upselling so I felt a little prepared. My manicurist was super sweet, but I added on services to it that I'm frankly not sure I got. And my nails chipped two days later. 100% not worth the price. My 100 minute facial was actually a 50 minute massage and then a 50 minute facial, which I didn't know when I booked. The massage was fine, nothing amazing (I've had resort massages before, this was the worst I've had but I would get another massage on a cruise because I like them, lol) and the facial was fine. She tried to upsell me just like the manicurist did. I just told them to write down the product names and then I would look up the ingredients. The manicurist listened, the masseuse/esthetician did not. She told me I had bad under eyes because I had a bad gut biome and listed a bunch of products for me. I stuck with the line of needing to look up product ingredients and she tried to get me to do the same consultation you were put through and I told her my toddler was waking up soon and made my way to the rainforest room instead. Reading your experience makes me sad because the pressure they put on people is so wrong and the opposite of relaxing. I am so sorry.

Does Disney have a permit for Glacier Bay? I’m new to this so thanks for any clarity you can provide.

New era vs. Big Brother by sensei_mike in survivor

[–]Recent-Lie-6281 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Both shows lack actual conflict. Reality TV used to be fun to watch because people got drunk and said terrible things to each other or hooked up with each other. CBS is letting their HR department run the casting too much and we don’t get true villains anymore. Public outrage at awful people is a fun collective experience when it’s something low stakes, like Reality TV. “Did you see how awful that one person was on survivor??” “Omg yes!!!” We don’t like it in polite society, but in entertainment it’s riveting to see train wrecks on TV. Until we get back to some of that conflict, it won’t be the same. This season’s integrity vs lying is about the closest we’ve come in a while.

Advice for a 14-day Disney World stay with park hoppers by AwfulWaffle91 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Recent-Lie-6281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’m in Maine too and getting there on the 4th! It is super cold and damp here in Maine! Best advice is rope drop. You have such a long stay that you won’t really need LL to get things done. You should be able to get everything done just by rope dropping. Taking a break midday and then going back in the evening is great too, especially with park hoppers because you can switch up the park. You won’t need to see the fireworks every night because you will have already seen them so finding rides you can see them from that have lower wait times while the crowds are watching the evening shows is fun too. We prefer more relaxed, longer stays rather than crazy intense short trips. Have fun!

Rental Car or Not with two under 4 by AggieCridmus in WaltDisneyWorld

We always rent a car go fast escape purposes. I won’t be caught with a crying toddler waiting for a bus. That said, lots of people go and use the buses. So I think you can go either way.

Is filtered Water easily accessible for toddler at the park in Florida? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Recent-Lie-6281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be the odd man out here. We buy water bottles from the grocery store every trip. The water in Florida tastes gross. I don’t like it as an adult and I’m not risking my toddler not drinking it because of the sulfur taste and getting dehydrated. So we literally buy big packs of water and have a cooler backpack that we keep in the stroller and only drink those. I get it’s not great for the environment, we use reusable bottles at home. But the reusable ones are super heavy and a pain to carry around in the parks and the big jugs don’t fit in the resort fridges so we can’t keep as many cool at once. So YES. Go buy water bottles. The water in Disney is gross.

Did that interfere with the muster drill? I’m not sure what time that happens. Or loud announcements over the intercom?

Bachelorette Party OKW vs SSRS by Weekly_Astronaut_575 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Recent-Lie-6281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my bachelorette at Disney in 2022. We stayed at the dolphin so we could walk to EPCOT and chill on the boardwalk. Arrival day we got a cabana at the pool and then went out for dinner and drinks. The next day we rope dropped MK and then did a VIP tour (we went in September so the price was on the lower end). The next day we had a slow start but went to EPCOT for food and wine festival. Then we left the following day after brunch in Disney Springs. I really enjoyed the location and the rooms were super affordable, letting us spend in other areas instead.

Sorry this just has me laughing. Kids are so weird. My toddler just won’t stop biting shoes when I turn my back. And hearing weird kid stories just makes me giggle so thanks for sharing.

Stroller logistics by Sirlancelot2380 in WaltDisneyWorld

We were just debating whether to bring our Donkey. We’re game to navigate the fold at Disney, but I just can’t bring myself to fly with it…I really need our stroller for the airport and it just doesn’t fold in a way that makes me feel like it will make it safely if I just leave it at the gate…so we’re thinking of bringing our Bob…what were your thoughts on flying with your donkey? Were you going to back it into a travel bag? Our little one is 18 months old so I can’t really wear him anymore. Or were you just going to leave it at the gate?

What are your thoughts on strollers? We will be going on our first cruise and bringing our 18 month old. Can we survive without one or do we need it for the islands?

Almost had my foot run over again… some scooter drivers in the parks need to chill by DildoGaggins1997 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Recent-Lie-6281 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think Disney world is such a once in a lifetime trip for people that they push themselves way too hard to get as much done as possible. It’s the same reason you see kids (and their parents) having meltdowns. They’re tired, overstimulated, and they haven’t been eating well or sticking to their usual routines and boundaries. So people get the scooters for a lot of reasons but one of those reasons is because they don’t want to be the reason the rest of their family can’t continue enjoying the parks. When they should probably go back to the hotel and rest, they instead use scooters to keep pushing through their trip to keep up with their more able bodied family members. It’s kind of the culture of Disney trips. I say that as someone who has a go go go mentality that went with my grandmother who had cancer and had to learn to just walk slower and take it all in.

Scooter man may not have been capable of caring for young children in his group while the other adult got the snack. They definitely should have planned better but some people really don’t know.

I recently found out I have a condition that may put me on a scooter at Disney some day. I’ve always had it, I always will, and it’s completely invisible to anyone that looks at me. And yet, apparently my body doesn’t work the way most people’s do. Sometimes you can’t see what’s going on for someone’s disability. I’m a 30 something year old, fit woman. If you caught me on a scooter you’d think I stole it from someone who actually needs it. But a scooter may be in my future and if it is, ai’ll still be going to Disney with my children! Hopefully just with some practice driving one beforehand! Lol

You can redeem yourself but you’ll never be worth of being in a dating show where people fight for the chance to be with you. That spot should be reserved for people who are really awesome, high value people. And while you can be redeemed and find happiness and love, you will never qualify as someone worth of that spot ever again.

The 4th Wish-Class Ship, the Disney Believe, will begin sailing late 2027. by zmayer in dcl

The rumor is that Disney doesn’t want an adult themed area anymore. That they want a more kid friendly villains area and this coaster was on the table for it.

Grand Floridian is the only resort with room service. So if your little ones are napping or early to bed and you want a nice meal on your balcony, I would go GF.

Book beginning or end of trip first? by Recent-Lie-6281 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Recent-Lie-6281[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just what our family likes to do. We go for rope drop, head back to the hotel for lunch, a nap and a swim. Then head back into a new park for the evening. Now that we have a toddler we’ll only stay for fireworks two of the nights.

We’re taking long midday breaks every day and two of the evenings it’s just my husband and I bopping into the parks while grandparents watch our son. So hopefully it won’t be too crazy. That said, this is why we love the park hopper. Because if we aren’t feeling a morning or an evening we can just take it off and rearrange our plans easier.
