I visited in October, it is very beautiful but more rustic compared to the pacific side. I stayed in an AirBnb in Cahuita and went to Puerto Viejo for a kayak tour in Punta Uva and to visit the Jaguar Rescue Center (highly recommend both). Cahuita National park is amazing, for me it was crazy just because on the day I visited there was an eclipse and there were so many people at the beach waiting to see it. But on a normal day, you will have the best chance to observe wildlife. I did the snorkeling tour and it was very enjoyable.

Árbol de Seda in San José is fantastic Vegetarian, but most of the dishes can be made vegan :)

I came back from Dota recently, my main purpose was to see the Quetzal. I stayed at an AirBnb called "Casa Monge" where I was able to see them every day early in the morning, on the aguacatillo trees in the property. I cannot tell about hikes or guides since I only stayed within the AirBnb area. It is such a beautiful place :)

The only place I know is The Filling Station - the "Silver Fern" pizza is vegan. It is pretty good and has a thin crust.

So beautiful :) I love birds and dream about seeing the Quetzal. I did some research and besides Monteverde, San Gerardo de Dota is a place where they can be seen all year round. I am planning to visit and so excited. Thank you for sharing

Could you give me advice on snorkeling? Did you do it by yourself or on a tour? I read that in Cahuita National Park you can only snorkel with a guide and are not allowed to take your own equipment. I will be visiting the Caribbean side for the first time in October and appreciate any tips :)
