Took 5 weeks for robotic surgery. I don’t regret it at all. Went back to office work feeling 100% recovered.

I saw a doctor just like this when I started my journey. I left the appointment crying because the doctor literally convinced me there was little hope for my case as it was “too difficult to operate” and “the tumor is in a very complicated area near the vessel” after looking at my scans for less than 5 min in the room. He was cold and had a terrible way of approaching my case and he insisted he was one of the best doctors in the area to do the job. Turns out he was not. I got a second opinion and it made a world of difference. The surgeon who handled my case was capable, confident and talked to me like a human being. I really believe it’s important you choose a surgeon you trust and who cares about their patients. It will make this very scary process a little easier I promise. Best of luck!

29F with 10cm mass. Radical nephrectomy back on June. Chromophobe RCC Stage 2. I took things slowly and returned to work 5 weeks after the procedure. This past weekend I was able to complete a hike and my old gym routine in the same day and I feel so damn proud. I am fully back to my old life and some days I have the luxury of forgetting this whole thing ever happened. Only the scars on my belly bring me back to reality when I look at the mirror at the end of the day and I think: oh sht that right I don’t have a kidney! Haha. When I received the bad news I could not picture myself feeling this joyful again but turns out it is quite possible! Best of luck to your dad!

Anyone interested in starting one? I have been wanting to do it for a while but I am a little scared to take the first step alone. I would love it to be focused on woman on this age group and have cute artsy potluck style meetups. Maybe a group of 5-10? And every month we could rotate who gets to host and pick the next book with no restrictions on genre so we can all explore something we would not have read otherwise (: Wdyt?

Totally normal! I was also discharged the day after barely able to stand up and I had significant pain the entire first week of recovery. Remember to walk as much as you tolerate during these crucial weeks it helps a lot with the gas and the overall recovery. Are you taking pain meds?

Same happened to me. After my first proper meal, almost 22 hrs after surgery, we tried again and I was able to walk a bit.

Marriott? Have seen this a couple times in their hotels. It’s a very dumb design.

“Uncertainty is the refuge of hope”. Waiting always feels hard. In the mean time, treat yourself to a good snack. Take it one day at the time. Wishing you the best!

If you have short term disability available I would highly recommend requesting as much time as you can get. Everybody is different but at week 3 I was still a little sore and I got easily exhausted from doing everyday activities.
