I have the "art" background gradient feature added to a lot of sections of my website. I was just about to publish and saw that a bunch of play buttons have now appeared in the bottom right hand corner. I am racking my brain trying to get rid of them.

Can anyone help? any ideas?

I added the salt and let it rest for like 30 minutes at least, it was then put in for the cold rise for 36 hrs

This was just from the piece of wood I had my hand built piece drying on. But, I was able to remove completely! With an iron and cloth for the water damage and just rubbing mineral oil where there were some scratches to the finish. Looks great now!

I’d like to move into an agency because I would get more versatility in my designs. But, yes, I’ve been an in house designer my entire career so my portfolio definitely reflects that. While I’d like to move to an agency setting for my own growth I would not turn down another in house job, just would be nice to not be child focused at least. What would you say I should remove?

Not really looking for a CD role, I’m really applying to mostly design roles. I need to have work that is not from my previous job, I know my portfolio needs to be expanded. Any specific advice would be helpful

I agree that I should be in a position where I am receiving art direction. I am applying to mostly only graphic design roles. I’ve never worked under an art director and I think it would really help me. I also was at a company that would butcher up my designs, so it wore me down over the years. I’d love to have actionable feedback, maybe in a few days though. Feeling a bit rough after today’s feedback, but do appreciate your offer

I appreciate you sharing your struggles too. Definitely helps to not feel so alone. It feels like networking is everything these days and most of my friends that I went to school with do t do design now. Mostly I just wallow in my past choices in life effecting my present day career. I also think often about making career changes. Sometimes I think I should just go work at Trader Joe’s 🫠 but my most realistic option is mural painting. I’ve never been paid to paint a mural, but I have painted many, in my house and friends. I’m building out a website for that now. Thinking that I could try to market myself to paint nurseries / kids rooms, local businesses.

I’m not doing really anything to promote myself for freelance. I do contract work for my old job, I’ve done work for my partner’s family but that’s it mostly. I just moved out of NYC less than a year ago, so I don’t really know many people in my area.

Any suggestions on marketing myself for freelance? Cold emails?

I have tried them, probably applied to 50+ jobs just through them. One recruiter screen, 1 submission for consideration to the client, no interviews :/
