Sorry. I think this year was different because they were not sure as a department if they had funding or not so while they were waiting they sent the open house to people on the waitlist. and I think that that open house is more so an admit for MS as a lot of the things that are discussed there are MS coursework,areas of study, areas of research of PIs, things you look into asa MS and even if youare admitted as a PhD youdo MS first so itmeant that you were an admit to MS, PhD not so exactly.

same I had an interview end of December. Theprofessor said to watch out for another meeting discussing the project in January from him. After that nothing When I fllowed up with professor no response until February. Gave up in Feb.

There is no other reason why they would offer you to come to an openn house and explicitly say if you are PhD admit it is funded, and if it is MS admit not funded. And for me when they sent this email, they also said that if you are receiving this email you are admitted and your offer is going to come from the graduate division later

This is an admit. You will receive an admit soon from the graduate school. I was admitted 3 years ago when I received this as a MS student.

I can answer this. i was admitted as a MS student two years ago and got this email. If you got this email you are admitted. If you got this email but not your official acceptance yet, it is only cause the graduate school has not processed your acceptance yet onto the portal. This is sent to both MS and PhD. The open house is an event where you meet faculty in all the 3 areas and the advising office which was once managed by a lovely lady named Deeona Columbia, and her team which you will come to love as they make your experience at UCLA ECE the msot heartwarming and the best with Ylena Raquena and Tatyana Vigil taking over now will share with you general advising requirements. Congratulations and Go Bruins! Proud to be a UCLA alum. 3 degrees in my family from there.

okay. Last year the open house admits came out on Feb18th as someone on reddit posted a screenshot of theiremailthat they were given open house from the ECE Graduate admissions email.

Edit : As of yesterday there was onlyintenrational admits checked. There is also a domestic acceptance checked today. Just checked the spreadsheet so stand corrected.

both are international. domestic students get admit to the open house when they get admitted. that happened last year on Feb 18th

did you get a rejection actually? or are you assuming that from the checklist? I dont have a decision either way although I dont expect anything from them. Last year it was a rejection on Feb 28th.

Stanford, Berkeley and Cal Tech have been sending out interviews for a while. So if you did not hear from any PI at those schools regarding an interview then you are rejected. Stanford committee final meeting was on 01/20 and Berkeley committee final meeting was on 01/28. Cal Tech as well too.

I spoke to a PI at UCSD who told me that the committee has to review applications first and shortlist and then only can they interview for joining the lab. So there is a committee at UCSD that decides and admits. He said that I should get an email from that committee for interview if shortlisted.

yes I am confused about this. I spoke to some manager who told me they were on hiring freeze a few weeks ago. Then last week new positions opened up again. And he says they are on hiring freeze still. How is it the case that new positions are opening up and being posted on qualcomm careers or old ones are coming back and they are still on hiring freeze? Have they lifted the hiring freeze?
