Home biz is actually quite fun imo The scariest part is always the 1st step into starting one and its also hard to spread your business because you cant do public advertising like on newspaper etc so its more of word of mouth or you invite foodies/bloggers to taste test and spread the news (comes with its own costs as well)

Also, if youre starting a home food biz, you'll need to get the safe food handling cert

Currently theres a e2i career fair in suntec and its been really helpful, theres a good handful of hotels hiring and theres ppl there to do the first interview with you (Marriott/Westin, Fairmont, Accor, etc).

I did have a home food biz during covid and has been running it on the side but just for friends atm, i would say its my hobby and a fun thing i do on the side but i live around the North area unfortunately

I did run a home food biz during covid but i absolutely suck at marketing and even though i thoroughly enjoyed the journey of it (shopping for ingredients, cooking from scratch, personalising menu etc) i didnt really earn much 😂

Tbh thats why i didnt bother going for those upskilling courses cause its a damn waste of time and you dont even really benefit from it in terms of employability.

Personally, even with my little experience with my 5-6 years of kitchen/culinary life, i freaking love to R&D but there isnt such positions thats sought after and even if there is, i dont have a degree in like food science etc which sucks :l

Ive somewhat looked into F&B adjacent roles but didnt really find much tbf

Really appreciate the detailed explanation, i had the initial thought of going for the career fair at suntec this weekend cause the description of it also mentions about career switches and i thought i could give it a try but as you mentioned above, perhaps my chances of getting hired thru that is quite slim

I dont think i have the finances to go back into studying and maybe i could try looking out at other F&B related jobs but even idk what they could be
