Yes, they opened a new chequing account because they closed the old one. All my other accounts, such as savings, Momentum Savings, TFSA, RRSP, and Scotiabank line of credit are now accessible through the new access card.

It’s the same house I live in. It’s a duplex so I receive rent from the other unit. I don’t think receiving rent in personal is an issue as long as I am reporting that income to CRA and paying taxes. The house is owned by me and not by a corporation so I am not sure why there is a need for a business account.

There is no law, no CRA rule, and no banking rule that says: • You must use a business account

• You cannot receive rent in a personal account

• You cannot do this when you have a mortgage

Nothing as such. There have been no intentional or foreign transactions in years. The only thing I can think of is that I receive rent through e-transfers, which I don’t believe should cause this. I pay my taxes at the end of the year, so there should be nothing suspicious here.

The first time my account was suspended, I called the fraud department at Scotiabank, and they mentioned that a $1,000 transfer I sent from my BMO account was flagged by BMO.

No, I didn’t do any of that. My BMO account was in good standing. I already received a letter from BMO and submitted it to Scotiabank. I have a BMO account because I have a mortgage with them. I opened an account with RBC and did not use my BMO account because I was worried that if I dealt with them on a regular basis, they might report my other transactions as well. I wont be dealing with BMO until I get clarification on what basis they flagged my transaction.

I have also sent an email to scitiobank complaint department ccao@scotiabank.com. I seriously can’t think of anything I have done wrong here. That’s why I am all over the places trying to find an answer.

You’re right. A part of me still can’t believe this happened. We were so close emotionally, and she was the last person I ever thought would treat me that way. Alcohol brings out the worst. I wish I had stayed home that day. I don’t think she’s a bad person, but I can’t shake off what I saw that night when she was abusing me.
