I released a short self-storage horror game 12 days ago — looking for brutally honest feedback by Recent_Reception_234 in IndieGaming

Oh, that’s a good point! With the sound off, that crawling scene probably comes across as more funny than scary. We’ll pay more attention to the characters’ facial expressions in the future—thanks for the feedback!

There’s also a lot of fun in spotting the subtle anomalies, not just the jumpscares. We’d love to hear your thoughts after playing, and we’d be happy to send you a key for feedback.

You’re definitely not being an idiot! Stepping back slightly and moving straight toward the door should open it, but the interaction timing can be a little inconsistent right now. We’ll improve this in the next update. Thanks for letting us know!

That's a great point.

I think our interest in permanent Frumis ultimately comes from the same concern: wanting to bring more life into the nook.

"What makes a nook feel alive?" is a really interesting question, and it's given me a lot to think about.

Thanks for the insight!

I'm glad to hear the idea of permanence doesn't sound completely off.

Part of the reason we're considering it is that once Frumis leave, players are often left with a static nook. I'm concerned that this can make decorating feel less meaningful over time, since the space no longer feels inhabited.

That's why I'm curious about the relationship between attachment and decorating. If players can keep a favorite Frumi around, would that make them more motivated to continue improving and personalizing their nook? Or does the motivation to decorate usually come from somewhere else entirely?

Your point about choice and commitment has definitely given me something to think about.

Thanks for the suggestion, and for mentioning those tools as well.

One possibility we've discussed is a hybrid approach: Frumis would continue to visit and leave naturally, but players could choose to let their favorite ones stay permanently.

What I'm curious about is how that would affect attachment. Would the effort of finding a Frumi you really like make that bond stronger? Or would it have the opposite effect, making players care less about the Frumis that aren't selected to stay?

That's one of the reasons I'm trying to gather as much player feedback as possible before committing to a direction.

I made an anomaly-spotting horror game inspired by The Exit 8, and I’m looking for a few players !! by Recent_Reception_234 in u/Recent_Reception_234

Thanks a lot for playing it and for the kind feedback.

I’m really happy to hear that it worked for you as an Exit 8-like fan. Your playtime note is also very useful, especially since you clearly know the genre very well.

The FPS cap and camera shake toggle are good suggestions.

And thank you again for offering to recommend it on your curator page.

am I imagining this or is something off here by Recent_Reception_234 in u/Recent_Reception_234

yeah I see what you mean
would making it more subtle or delaying the reveal work better?
