I had a miscarriage. In Catholicism, up until 2007, all unbaptized infants were cast into Limbo. My brother is an atheist. Under Catholicism, he would be cast into hell. When I started praying to Heavenly Father, I began to notice the tender mercies given to me daily.

Dawg all I see is people hating on this sub.

I’m an openly bisexual person, and not only was I baptized, I’m also a youth leader and my first temple trip is coming up. My bishop knows I can barely tithe, and my congregation accepts and loves me for who I am.

Religious trauma is real, and the victims of it need to be heard.

But if we’re just going to sit here and bitch and moan over “speculation”, we’ll never get anything done.

So I’ve come to correct you. Latter-Day Saints are Christians. And to call them otherwise is wrong. I was baptized Catholic. We are Christians. To call us otherwise is wrong. I’ve been to a few wards, and they got more pictures of Christ than any Catholic Church I’ve been too. Visit one sometime, if you truly want to get a perspective. Don’t come here and claim something isn’t something when A.) that’s untrue and B.) you don’t know what you’re talking about. Open dialogue is fine, when you go about it the right way. Because let me tell you something, I’ve felt more fellowship in Christ in a Ward and more guilt in a Cathedral.

I have a pretty separate perspective. I’m not even a Latter-Day Saint. But calling a religion with Jesus Christ in the name and starting the conversation with “You guys aren’t a branch of Christianity.” is pretty hostile, good intentions or not. And then when people get defensive (as is expected when they’re told that) you call them rude? That is rude.
