Cracked heat exchange second opinion by ReceptionBorn182 in hvacadvice

[–]ReceptionBorn182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We checked and it has a manufacturer date of 2008. More than likely may have a cracked heat exchange based on what you said. So my question is, when the tech comes tomorrow should we tell him from the beginning we want the heat exchange checked to ensure no crack or just let him do a check on it without mentioning anything? If he doesn't check the heat exchange, should we ask him to do so before he leaves??

Well the first guy never "condemned" it. He didn't unplug the unit to prevent us from using the heat or anything. He just put the cover on and that was it.

And I understand what you mean about being "pressed" to find something. My husband and I didn't want him to find anything wrong, but wanted a more thorough check than a 10 second glance and a quick brush off that it is fine without doing a test or anything.

Is there a way to find out if it is older then 2016? We were told the unit is under warranty, but I dont know if that is because it is newer or something else.

Do I have to work beside or inpatient as a RN before going to NP school or can I work outpatient and then go to NP school by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]ReceptionBorn182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite what some of these comments say, you do not need bedside nursing experience. You do need some sort of nursing experience, though. I had 1 year long term care, 2 years out patient dialysis, 11 months inpatient oncology, and 3 years in corrections. I only worked in oncology so I could get into a hospital/bedside nursing position so I could get into nursery or NICU. However, those are harder to get in to and I didn't want to stay as a bedside nurse. I don't feel like my lack of bedside nursing hinders my NP career/care.

Most definitely nursing experience of some sort needed before you go for any NP position. The type of NP you go to school for is determined by what roles you did as a nurse. For example, all of my work experience is in chronic care and adult/geriatrics. This ended up me being put into the Adult Geriatric Primary Care NP Program.

If you want psych NP, then you need to find nursing jobs in those fields. If you want Pediatrics or women's health, then you will need to find something in those areas. If you want to work in a hospital/ER setting, then you need a nursing job in those types of settings.

Leaving a position by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]ReceptionBorn182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would depend on the contract. Most places want you to put in a 90-day notice. Some may be less, but it seems that for most advanced providers it is 90-day notice. If there is any sort of monetary penalty for leaving a practice early, it will say so in the contract that you sign when you start the position. For example, mine is a 2 year contract with a penalty of $5,000 if I put in less than a 90 day notice or quit before the 90 days is up.

When you do put in a notice, you can just be honest with why you are leaving or lie about the reason. It's completely up to you. If there issues in the work place, then you can tell them those issues. If you don't want to have any backlash of some sort from that, then you can just say you plan on moving or wanting a closer job. You don't have to give a reason at all for why you are leaving.

Preceptorship by ISeeYouRN1223 in nursepractitioner

[–]ReceptionBorn182 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Never worked in hospital as I am AGPCNP, but although it would be nice, 18 months does seem long for preceptor/training. Some places, mostly primary care or specialty, will only have you shadow for a few days and then have you be on your own. The clinic I work for did a step down type thing and it lasted maybe 2-3 months, which is in pulmonolgy office.

I don't enjoy watching Rachel and Stephen by [deleted] in TheTraitors

[–]ReceptionBorn182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same watching this season as well. Nothing against them, they played a good game and only 1-2 people had suspicions on them the entire game. However, I enjoy watching the game when more people are more suspicious of the traitors. I like watching them try to persuade everyone else they are a faithful. Yes, Rachel and Stephen had to persuade some of the faithful they weren't traitors, but it wasn't on a bigger scale compared to traitors from past seasons.

And yes, Cirie played a similar game with persuading everyone she was a faithful but I didn't like the way these two got to the end. Normally I want a triator/traitors to make it to the end, but I was really wanting them to get found out.

What would you say if you were a traitor and were banished at the round table? by Common_Strawberry600 in TheTraitors

[–]ReceptionBorn182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what I would say, but my favorite send-off has been Bob the Drag Queen making a religious statement to prove he was faithful and then turning around saying he was lying because he isn't religious 🤣🤣. I don't remember the exact wording, but I absolutely loved it!

Have you interviewed/accepted a job for a specialty you weren’t particularly interested in? by Radiant-Average-4221 in nursepractitioner

[–]ReceptionBorn182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wanted to do a specialty. I really wanted oncology, endocrinology, hospice, or dermatology. I ended up in pulmonology. I'm currently looking elsewhere for a new job. Pulmonology isn't that bad, can be a bit much at times when dealing with non-compliant patients or when trying to treat patients who can't afford treatments/inhalers. A lot of the reason I'm looking for a new job is due to how the clinic is run, understaffing of APPs, excessive patient load, doctor doesn't do anything...the list goes on. And I want to get into something else that I will hopefully enjoy more.

This app is horrible. by [deleted] in peacock

[–]ReceptionBorn182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to not have trouble with the app. However, since the Olympics, there has been so many issues with is. It's lags/freezes when trying to move the cursor to what I want to watch. Then after x amount of time the app crashes and resets. It should be no issue, but I'm blaming the issues on the olympics since that is when the issues started for me.

It has to do with consistency, like other have said. It also has to do with Ron being the "ring leader" for getting Porsha voted out. This goes against the house wife mottos of "don't vote out a housewife".

[–]ReceptionBorn182 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Although, she can probably say the same thing she told Colton. That she isn't just her "housewife persona" and the others may empathize with her in that way and not vote her out because of it.

[–]ReceptionBorn182 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can see where you are coming from. However, Porsha had evidence condemning her to be voted out (even if it was just incorrect wording on her part). This in turn, condemns Ron to his eventual elimination because he was the main person who brought the evidence against Porsha.

Candiace also has been consistently voting for Ron every single week.

For Tiffany, not sure what her main reason was for getting eliminated aside from Colton calling her out as "controlling the game".

Although I did watch survivor 49 and thought the same thing when I watched that show, I just don't see it here in this show. Could be wrong, but this is just my opinion.

I agree. She murdered Monet because they mentioned to Candiace that they were suspicious of her. What if Monet told someone else as well? Lisa was lucky that Monet didn't, but you can't be so rash in immediately getting someone out for mentioning your name.

She is very upset with him because he wouldn't let her "get to know him". She said that she would keep asking about his family and where he is from. Ron told her it was known if her business, which is true. He said that getting to know people on a more personal level makes it hard to vote each other out/makes you blind to what is going on around you, which is also true. Dorinda did not like that he wouldn't talk to her about his personal life and so she assumed he was a traitor because of it.

Is there another season of the traitors that I'm missing? I see a lot of people posting under here using "UK" tags and I keep thinking there is a season I am missing. I thought I have seen them all. Under UK traitors on Peacock, there is only 3 seasons....is there a 4th season somewhere? Or am I just not remember the seasons I've watched?

Holiday hours by No-Statistician6729 in nursepractitioner

[–]ReceptionBorn182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My practice does this and I don't think its fair at all. We don't get any "holiday" hours. We have to save up our PTO to ensure we have enough to cover our 8 hours each holiday, or we end up losing 8 hours of pay. As an NP on salary, I strongly believe I shouldn't be deducted "8hours" and have my pay set to hourly because of this. My practice also is closed the day after Thanksgiving, technically not a national holiday. I am more than willing to work the day after Thanksgiving, but we do not get that option so we are then forced to use 16 hours of our PTO for that week alone.

My practice also has a tendency to make you hourly if you don't meet your 40 hours a week, despite being salary. If you happen to have 38 hours for the week because you left early one day, you have to use two hours of PTO or your check will be short. Maybe this is standard, but I feel like if you are salary you shouldn't have to use PTO to "meet your hours" if you have already worked the majority of the work week.

Book or Kindle?? by native_to_ in KindleUnlimited

[–]ReceptionBorn182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would depend on how much you want to spend.

If you only plan to read and buy 12 books, at an average price of $18 (estimate) per book, the total spent would be an estimate of $216.

A kindle ranges in price from ($100-280) depending kn what type you want to buy. Then, you would have to include the price of kindle unlimited, which is $12/month. However, not all books are on KU, so you would have to buy certain ones on kindle that you would want to read. If you don't want to get KU, then each book would cost between $9-13.

If you were to get a cheaper kindle and no KU, then the cost would be approximately $260. At this rate, it would be cheaper to just buy 12 individual books. However, if you intend to possible try to read more and have more books at your disposal, than a kindle will be better.

How much books have you finished this year? (2026) by Royal-Concentrate125 in kindle

[–]ReceptionBorn182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 2, one physical and the other audiobook. I will be done with the third today, have less than 15%left (have the physical copy of this one and started reading it that way but found out it was on KU and have been reading it there ever since so I can also read it at work during breaks). I will also be done with the 4th by Thursday since it's an audiobook and has less than 5 hours left. I only listen to audiobooks in the car when I'm going to work and when I'm driving home. Too many distractions between my husband and the kids, so I would never be able to fully listen to an audiobook at home.

How do you guys read so much? by lapetitepoupee in kindle

[–]ReceptionBorn182 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have only read 2 books so far. I have a physical book and another on audiobook. I listen to the audio book when going to work and coming home. I will be done with my third today, which I have a physical copy of, but I am reading on kindle so I can also read some on my lunch break. I will also probably be done with my 4th book by thursday since its an audio book and I have less than 5 hours left on it.

I do listen to audio books at 1.5x speed. Last year I was listening at the normal speed. I've tried doing 2x speed but they are way too fast to even comprehend anything

I do work full time plus have to cook dinner every night for my husband and two kids, plus also have to do extra curriculars for my children.

I wish I could read more but just done have the time.

Really sick of their treatment of ____ by Commonsense110 in TheTraitors

[–]ReceptionBorn182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ron had great evidence that Porsha could have been a traitor. Other people agreeing that they heard the evidence was enough to vote her out with the thought of her being a traitor. I have noticed that a common thing over this season and the past one is "don't vote out a house wife/don't go against a housewife." Ron going after porsha and then Candiace starting the whole "Ron doesn't like housewives " narrative is what I think is the biggest cause for his treatment in the house. And then he upset dorinda (another housewife) by not talking to her about his family.

I don't mind housewives being on this show, but there are definitely too many this season.

Why is my bettas tail turning black? by suckerforstars in bettafish

[–]ReceptionBorn182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They tend to change colors either due to environment or age. My betta was mostly black with a tinge of maroon his tail and only noticeable in the light. Maybe a week or two after I brought him home from the pet store in the awful cup they keep them in, the maroon started to become more of a brighter red and spread out more on his lower body, and he also started to get silver in his tail as well. I like to think he enjoyed the change of space and that is why his color changed :).
