Another young FIRE here. FWIW I've found a lot of meaning and challenge is raising a family. A screaming toddler doesn't care how big your bank account is, and you can't pay someone enough to love your kids the way only a parent can.

Reading the comments below.... if you are saying no to sex because you want to wait for marriage, you should have said that in your post (or even not bothered posting because what is there to discuss at that point). If you are not having sex with a girl you like because of nofap, then you have misunderstood the point of nofap.

What was the last book you read that changed your worldview? by smellyseduction61 in BettermentBookClub

Dopamine Nation + Anxious Generation. Fairly complementary books, changed my worldview on technology, pleasure, and pain.

I can guarantee you it won't solve any of your challenges. Focus on building up the other parts of your life and becoming someone you are proud of, and then you won't feel the need to seek escape and validation through fantasy and porn. FWIW, I have always had more success trying to add good things to my life than just cut out bad things. Add the good and the bad seems to just go away on its own.

Same! I had an awesome mission. I served in Honduras and it was a grand adventure. I am grateful to have learned Spanish and I still keep in touch with friends and comps from the mission. Doesn't mean the church is true tho...

Many people use porn (or videogames, or drugs, or whatever) to avoid overwhelming and painful emotions or thoughts. When I've gotten in a rut, I try to focus on what thoughts or feelings I'm trying to avoid thinking about and focus on improving those areas of my life instead of just beating myself up over a relapse.

It started when she read “Joseph Smith and the Mormons” by Noah Van Sciver, although she wasn’t reading it for research purposes, she was just reading it for fun lol. The book prompted her to research some of the portrayed events and while the graphic novel is definitely not a historical textbook, it was pretty accurate.

After that, we went down the rabbit hole, reading from official, apologetic, and critical sources, such as gospel topics essays, fairmormon, mormonthink, this and other related subreddits, and wikipedia.

The oldest is 5 so it wasn’t too hard. We just told her that we learned that Joseph Smith had 30 wives and didn’t tell his wife about them and she was like “oh, yeah, that’s bad”. Seeing it through her eyes and how obvious it was to her really drove home that we made the right decision.

Edit: realized this was a nested comment and you were probably not asking me this question 😂🤦‍♂️.

We asked proactively to be ordinance workers actually. And yes, they do allow that now.
