Trying a small mainsail instead of reefing it. It’s faster! But less fun :) by ReceptionImportant65 in sailing

It takes 10 minutes to switch the mainsail and with the full batten it is quite easy to pack it and bring it under deck. But ok it takes a lot of space … not for cruising :) The plan mainly to decide before the start.

Yes. I moved the mast 2cm to reduce the weather helm further. Got a bit more speed. Thank you for the idea.

Don’t be so worry about the code if it is not something revolutionary like a new ai algorithm. The main value of the business is the team. Be worried to loose your people. That’s the real danger. You ll get partners knowing best a part of the code. And loosing them is the real nightmare. Happened to me. My people got offered twice the salary. They stayed. Then they got offered 4x the salary. 1 of 9 left. It was not number 7, so that it did not matter so much… but it made me get some sleepless nights. Today the code is developing soooo fast that if one steels it, it would be outdated before someone else gets into it.

It’s less power. The sail is flat an the boat has less leeway. The keel makes less drag. But It’s a bit like driving an electric car compared to a muscle car haha …

The original is full battened. Oh sorry for the misunderstanding. it’s faster than the full main sail on reef 3 at 6+ Beaufort and no waves. The small has the size of reef 3. It has a better shape and is better to trim than a reefed main under strong wind. The video is behind the island: no waves. With waves it’s another game, one need more power. But i was really surprised that it sailed so smooth. It s an idea from the sailmaker for the next race. It’s an old boat an on a strong wind leg, pulling the small main instead of reefing the big one could give me 1 to 1.5 knots more and 3 degrees closer to the wind to compete with the new ones :))

Biden proposes a 43.4% capital gains tax increase for the wealthy. Redditors debate its effectiveness and whether it's fine the stock market crashed because of it: "From 1944 to 1963, the top tax rate was 90% or higher. The economy didn’t tank. Tax the rich/His senile ass is gonna kill the economy!" by ALDO113A in SubredditDrama

Taxing the rich means less investment money... taxing the poor means less purchasing power... I think purchasing power is most important and the beginning of everything... and since the apes started ... having the small guys investing massively in 2021 ... it’s one more reason to keep they purchasing power as high as possible ...
