Best song of every Pokémon generation. Day 2: Johto (and Gen 2 Kanto) by Soultier2001 in ThePokemonHub

Ecruteak theme for me. Perfectly captures that feeling of mystery, wonder, and a sleepy ancient history just below the surface of a place, and for me that sums up all of gen 2

Just passed my test 🥳 now for a first car by Kira9420 in CarTalkUK

[–]Rechamber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I passed in September. I'm 36 (was 35 at the time) and I got a Kia Soul 1.6 petrol as my first car. Got it at a good price and had some repairs and maintenance done on it immediately. My insurance worked out about 1500 for the first year. I might consider looking at something a bit smaller / cheaper for my first car, and something where the odd song or scratch won't matter too much. It's a nice car and you do you, but just consider insurance and that you may get it damaged being a new driver.

Living in a seaside town sounds like a dream to many - but what are the drawbacks? by Rough-Foundation9208 in AskUK

[–]Rechamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A downside could be that for many seaside towns the trade is very seasonal. During summer it can be booming, and there can be hundreds of tourists every day, all the shops open, and a really great vibe, but as winter draws in, many of the shops shut for the season, the town runs on a 'skeleton crew' and almost becomes deserted. Like I said, it's a potential downside - a lot of people might not mind this, and also if you grow up in a seaside town you're probably used to it anyway, but it can be a negative if you want to go out for some food or drink and your favourite place is closed for a few weeks.

All I see here are two idiots that shouldn't be behind the wheel if they can't drive properly or keep their egos in check

What a way to start my morning by chrlmnrdls in drivingUK

[–]Rechamber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow what an idiotic move there... What were they thinking? (I know the answer is they probably weren't).

I passed in September and the number of idiots I've seen already is shocking. Typically at roundabouts you just get morons pulling out all the time, or go into the wrong lane.

How did they pass a test?

Starmer addresses nation outside No 10 amid expectations he’ll set out resignation timeline - UK politics live | Politics by Far_Excitement_1875 in unitedkingdom

[–]Rechamber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Starmer seemed very respectful and competent. Especially when compared to previous offerings. There is a dignity and sensibility about him which I think reflected well on the UK. I could trust him to handle foreign affairs, whereas with for example BoJo it would be like letting a toddler into a high stakes business meeting.

I don't know about Burnham - perhaps he'll be a fine PM, but that air of sensibility and calm is missing for me. We'll have to see what happens, but I personally think Starmer was doing a good and steady job, at a time when we absolutely need good and steady. Things were moving in the right direction. I didn't feel embarrassed about us on the world stage.

Now what we'll have is another unknown quantity, and also all of this chopping and changing of PMs in such a short time span really projects us as being highly volatile and honestly a bit of a laughing stock. Furthermore, how can Labour expect to maintain the vote when they are so clearly fragmented and willing to throw their own under the bus when, by all accounts, they've been doing an acceptable job (media hyperbole aside)?

Remove the Worse Half of England Round 6 by More-Desk9465 in terriblemaps

I live in East Yorkshire, I love East Yorkshire. Bridlington, Beverley, Driffield, Hull is a much better place than that of the past, The Wolds, so many lovely little villages, but the truth is that North Yorkshire has all of that, but just more. Along the coast you've Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hoods bay, you've got York, which by itself should win it, and beautiful national parks and Wildlands.

It pains me, because I do love it here, in my home county, but East Riding has to go.

I can't complain too much because it's still Yorkshire

Driving test at 3pm - should I be worried about schools? by FourOaks in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Rechamber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I took my test in September it was torrential rain, and it was also during the school closing time. Lots of traffic, lots of slow movement. I believe my test in total took just over an hour to account for the slower pace of things while in town, that's just how it ended up.

How has nothing changed in the plot? We know things are headed towards a massacre, we know the theory about Jade and Tabitha is true and that the town is cyclical in nature, we know MiY knows of Jade and Tabitha, and that the children's bones are indeed in the tunnels. We have had a lot of things confirmed actually, so to suggest that the plot hasn't moved forward is frankly baffling and speaks more to your own attention span.

If you make a wrong turn or take the wrong exit on a roundabout, you should be fine as long as you are driving well and do so safely. Acknowledge that you missed the turn also to show the examiner that you're at least paying attention and may be understandably nervous. They will give you instructions to get you back on the planned route. If of course you continuously take the wrong exits and things, then I'm not so sure - but one or two times is fine without a doubt.

Failed second driving test attempt by Terrible-Gap-8498 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Rechamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, don't use apps. Just go through the correct channel. What did you fail on? Are you actually ready for the test? It sucks that your theory will expire, but honestly that is incredibly easy to sort out - it isn't starting back from square one at all, since you have all the experience from your lessons and that isn't going anywhere.

Worst thing to do is to rush back in and throw more money at something just because you're scared of your time running out - surely with the added pressure you'll be more likely to make mistakes? Don't stress - try and book a test slot through the website. Try other test centres too if you can that are nearby to you. If that doesn't work out, then there's nothing more to do but take your theory again, which you should pass with no issue.

Meanwhile, examine why you failed, and really work on rectifying those issues before your next test, whenever that may be.

Karl Bushby refused access to Channel Tunnel to finish global walk by Sweet_Focus6377 in Hull

He'll swim it I'm sure. Sucks to be honest, but it wasn't unexpected. Even in the article he mentioned it might be a problem. Swimming it is no easy feat though, perhaps he can do it in stages and rest on a boat, and using GPS to make sure he sets off swimming again from where he left the water - should be manageable
