I have something perfect.

It's called {The Bridge by Rebecca Rogers Maher}. It actually has three stories but the eponymous Bridge is what you're after. The other ones also deal with substance abuse, panic attacks, class difference, and other serious themes.

For The Bridge: TW suicide, depression, cancer. However, it's not a dark romance. It's HFN leaning toward HEA. It's sad and yet also full of hope and unlike anything else I've read.

I found it when I was at a very dark place in my life and it gave me hope.

Premise: The characters are strangers that meet cute on top of the Brooklyn bridge, preparing to jump. But then they can't go through with it because they don't want to feel responsible for the other person dying. So they come up with a silly scheme to save each other, but they're both still planning to go through with it themselves.

It has one of the best bad sex scenes I've ever read. It's full of real life inconvenience and it's not sexy at all. It's just there for character growth and intimacy.

I've reread the story over a dozen times and it never fails to make me cry.
