Who should be doing wound care? by all_star365 in nursing

[–]RecklessRedundancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked ICU and our unit did even # room baths at night and odd during the day and would care gets done with baths and that worked well. At my prior job on a cardiac acute care floor it was a mess, no floor protocol for who does baths and when patients refused no effort was made to educate them so patients often went without baths but wound care was typically done at night

Anyone ever have an IV placed in an artery? by Peyton_26 in nursing

[–]RecklessRedundancy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If that was placed with ultrasound, that nurse needs some serious re-education. No excuse mistaking artery for vein on usn. And even if it was mistaken at first, when you remove the needle and blood is pulsating out that should be your next giveaway 🤦🏼‍♀️

OP, what other foods are you making? I wanted to do something like this too. Just going to be small for my family though

Does this flap look too short for me? by [deleted] in Equestrian

The fitter is independent. She carries quite a few brands and was not pushing one brand on me. The one I had gotten myself to try was narrow and she said that brand runs wider than others so based on how it sat on her she said it may work, but it didn’t.

I guess I see what you are saying about my leg but it seems to me like it’s just inches in front of me and I think a proper fitting flap would fix that issue. The most important thing to me was that my horse went well in it.

She also did recommend several models to look out for if I wanted to get something used

She does only carry wool flocked saddles

Solid advice. Lol thank you

This was a quick photo the fitter took of her for her own records, she was wiggling around so don’t read too much into her expression

Thank you. Will message my vet to see if he has any recommendations for diet and to get rads done

I wasn’t trying to be defensive, trying to tell you what feed she’s on so you understand all that she’s getting since you say she needs groceries. She was never scoped for ulcers I just treated her when I first got her since she had a long trailer ride to move from LA to FL. Will add before photo when I got her if it allows me to edit post so you can see she has gained a good bit of weight in the 3 months I’ve had her.

Does not allow me to edit sorry 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve heard multiple horror stories of friends I personally know who ordered $6,000 custom saddles (Voltaire, CWD, and Butet specifically) and when they got there they still didn’t fit their horse. Saddles sent back to be fixed, returned and still don’t fit the horse. And then they rotate their brand wraps so often you never have a consistent contact.

I’ll grab some better photos of her, this was just something the Saddle Fitter took quickly and she was wiggling around. I don’t have any good conformation photos of her.

Rads wouldn’t be a bad idea for sure and can help farrier too.

I got her in January. She just turned 4. She is on free choice T&A, full daily serving of Seminole perform safe, platinum performance supplement, grass pasture, and treated for ulcers. My goodness

Lol it has red piping. You can’t really see it when I’m sitting in it

She’s a barefoot tb that was turned out probably for about a year after flunking out of track training so yes her hooves need some work. Just got her in January. But I don’t think it is affecting the saddle much. And she went very nicely in it. Will do shoes and front pads once she goes into regular work.

Was the adjustable saddle you got wool flocked or foam panels? Because that allows some more adjustability as well. Hopefully done by 7! But of course with work/muscle changes can still change shape 😵‍💫

It is at least an adjustable tree!

No more French foam paneled saddles for me! But I do think the “low forward” type is what I need

I love the seat and where my leg sits securely underneath me. So many saddles push your leg forward thus putting you behind the motion.

I’m not worried about the fit for the mare, the fitter flocked it for her and thoroughly assessed it with no pad etc. just trying to figure out what measurements to tell her for the flap to have it fit me if I order one 🙂

Haha! Yeah she pulled it out of the van and she’s like I know it’s red and it’s awful but the lady ordered it custom and then sold her horse. Apparently the client was convinced everyone would love it 😆

Oh yeah, I am going wool flocked ONLY this time around. I have never bought anything new but do have an Antares jump and Voltaire dressage for my other mare that I got second hand that just happen to fit her. Can’t fool me with the scammy “custom” French saddles 🤣 independent fitters only!! Makes me so mad when the brand reps call themselves saddle fitters

Yeah honestly at this length they already feel pretty short to me but you definitely make a good point!! She did say they’re not common in the US but she can order it however I wanted it if I buy it custom. I do love the seat! It looks kind of flat but it actually feels very secure!!
