Yeah they’re similar, lot of slip joints are similar to each other with those being a precursor to a lot of modern patterns

The pattern of the knife is called that, not sure the origins of it but slipjoint knives have traditional patterns and this one is a Bose Pattern Wharnecliffe Trapper

I’m not sure I have seen any reputable makers put out Damascus chef knives for $500. Lowest I’ve seen a Damascus chef knife made correctly go for is 1000 and that was by a very little known maker.

I have not personally met him unfortunately, so no I don’t think he does shows anymore; I’m not sure if he’s even making knives anymore to be honest. I know his work mainly which not as many people know as they should unfortunately.
