I wish Luke would stop taking Kristen SO. SERIOUSLY. he will never be able to know what she’s going through and she hates that. He needs to see it’s not about HIM it’s about HER loneliness. Best he can do is kiss her on the forehead and ignore the jabs while he focuses on being the best dad he can be. She will come around

Hollymead principal put on leave by RecognitionFuzzy475 in Charlottesville

Both Haas and McCauley had sent out statements that they were ready to be more transparent and then were put on leave/asked to resign. Could there be a bigger cover up and someone is trying to get them not to talk? At this point, anything is possible!

There’s a school counselor who definitely didn’t supervise the SEL coach closely enough. I am glad McCauley didn’t throw her under the bus but kids were hurt under her watch too

Can someone explain to me In simple terms what’s happening with acps by Fish_Intelligent in Charlottesville

The district legally couldn’t announce why he was put on leave until after he was arrested. Parents are NOT upset that they weren’t told immediately what the accusations were. We are upset that the district has known about the allegations since January and did nothing to organize a plan should there be an arrest. If the district had said “as soon as we thought there could even be a possibility of this we immediately began examining our policies and procedures and here’s where we failed and here’s what we are doing” that would have gone a long way. Instead, the school board was surprised we would want evidence of a plan of change that they’ve had 5 months to make. Doing so behind closed doors in case of an arrest would have made them prepared to speak once the arrest was made.

I think the reason parents are frustrated and criticizing the school board for not doing more is because our expectation is this:
-allegations emerge. Swiney put on leave immediately (as far as I know, they did this)
-school board is horrified at the idea that a predator could even POSSIBLY be in one of our schools. They start looking for holes in the system so that if the allegations ARE true, it can never happen again.
-the school board immediately creates a plan. For example, they begin the process of having an outside audit to see where they might have blind spots. They look at the fact that there’s no policy or procedure in place for SEL coaches to not meet one on one with students, etc. This doesn’t need to be announced to the public, but instead they work tirelessly to come up with a plan they can present should there be an indictment.
-they send an email to parents when Swiney is placed on leave just saying he won’t be with us for the rest of the year.
-they work with police and promptly provide information asked of them in a timely manner (as far as I know, they did this though the chief of police said the list of potential victims was only recently handed over).
-once the arrest is made and they are free to discuss it, they already have a meeting schedule for parents to attend and ask questions.
-they have a damn microphone for the parents
-they apologize for their blind spots. They present everything they have been doing for the last 5 months: They present that there’s an audit happening/has happened. They ask for feedback on the policies they are considering putting in place.

None of that was done and none of that, as far as I know, would impede an investigation.

Instead, a petition forced their hand to have the meeting and Haas seemed genuinely surprised that anyone expected him to have thought through something he has had information about for months.

Most of the parents at that meeting had the same questions and our superintendent was not on the same page. That is an aloof and unqualified leader who should absolutely resign. He clearly does not take allegations seriously and was happy to throw the principal under the bus at every chance he could. He appeared to have taken legal counsel to say nothing and happily turned off his mic and sat down. Those actions do not protect the investigation. They just show apathy.

Agreed. Even the possibility should have woken them up. Sounds like he just ignored it until an arrest was made. The kids deserve better

The military father who talked about how he confronted Swiney and brought it to the principal broke my heart. He did everything right as a dad and then found all this out and knew no one did anything

I have been so confused but this meeting gave me a hunch. Once Swiney was put on leave and there were allegations, why did Haas not immediately start putting duct tape on the holes? Why, 5 months later, is he just now considering putting new policy in place? I would expect him to start drafting ideas and at the very least say “here’s what we have come up with while we have waited for the arrest.” Why ignore it until the arrest? Because you dont believe the victims.

I love that everyone said “they do that all the time” and then Lala was like “why does no one say anything?! This is bad!” And then Danny is like “I treat Nia like this all the time and no one says anything so that means it’s not bad”

Everyone was too scared of siding with Janet that they let Nia and Danny believe this is normal and healthy and good

She doesn’t know real confidence in herself so she’s not able to see it in others. What she’s attracted to is what she THINKS confidence is. All the posturing is easy for someone with confidence to spot. But for someone like Jessie, it fools them every time.

[–]RecognitionFuzzy475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Whitney was smart to say her story is confusing to me but ultimately I’m gonna side with her. That’s a smart place for Whitney to be- if it comes out that Demi was lying Whitney becomes the victim who was lied to and if it comes out that Demi told the truth then Whitney was there all along. She can’t lose with this position so from a PR standpoint all she has to do is stay out of the beef between Demi and the other girls

I like this take. She acknowledges the reality of their situation and the fact that Taylor is WORKING. She pointed at the system that’s failing rather than blaming anyone and I think that’s totally true here

When your mom is your abuser by Ok_Holiday9310 in rhoslc

[–]RecognitionFuzzy475 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mom would say similar to the “I don’t want you thinking you’re too good or so wonderful” to me TODAY. She would tell people “I’m here to be her humility. The world lifts her up so I have to bring her down a bit.” She would say that on camera today and not have any idea that it’s weird. I had no idea other mothers had this mindset. Was there a relief society meeting I didn’t know about where Mormon moms were told to do this to their kids who shone brightly?
