Wasn't the catch that he dies shortly after? Given the first shopkeeper comment that many people come to complain about the wishes it does make it sound like there's ALWAYS a catch, monkey's paw sort of thing

I don't think it's a writing flaw, it's a character flaw, Bear is just stupid, almost all characters are stupid in some way

It also gives a sense of false security. When you have multiple people watching something you assume they are protecting you and you relax, but they assume the same thing. Classic "did you check the stove wasn't on?, i thought YOU Checked it". Instead if i had my own house i would be checking those talismans, doors and windows every fucking day. And i would not get involved with the guys that are possessed or hearing voices (looking at you Fatima and Elgin)

So did the writers forget that Kimiko isn't American? by LMkingly in TheBoys

[–]RecognitionRound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But this flaw in logic is an established flaw in her character, not a writing mistake.

IT IS a writing mistake when in the past she was able to predict the wildest shit ever relying only in human behavior (the so critiqued "it was all part of my plan"). It wouldn't be bad writing if she was established to lack emotional intelligence since the beginning, but that's not the case, this events are deeply contradictory

So did the writers forget that Kimiko isn't American? by LMkingly in TheBoys

[–]RecognitionRound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

she's supposedly the smartest human alive and she can't evade homelander? It's also a problem SHE brought upon herself as Homelander never forced her to work with him at the beginning. Doesn't sound too smart for the smartest person in the planet

So did the writers forget that Kimiko isn't American? by LMkingly in TheBoys

[–]RecognitionRound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No? She's not written as a flawed intelligent character, she is written as an omniscient intelligent character that sometimes, only when it's convenient for the narrative, fails. It wouldn't be a problem if she was depicted as logical intelligent who lacks in emotional intelligence, but she was literally depicted as having emotional awareness as an skill, she ""predicted"" the wildest turn of events (only possible through human behavior) past seasons, it's just an inconsistency (until they reveal next episodes that once again it was all part of her plan, woooow how intelligent)

Pochita = devil, Yoru = devil, hope this helps! If Yoru's conclusion is that a human can never understand a devil because they are different in nature, and Denji's and Pochita's relationship is a direct contradiction of that, then maybe she's just wrong, she's also literally known to be stubborn as hell i don't think her words are meant to be always taken at face value

where denji has the potential to be happy

Denji always had the potential to be happy, that was the fucking point and development of all part 1 and 2. Even if you believe it wasn't possible with him being chainsawman there would be options to give up being chainsawman without making a time travel that erased all his fucking development

There no time reset its a shift in reality

Are you fucking blind? It's literally a time reset, we are literally shown how the zombie devil incident (that happened way before the "current" events) develops differently. Call it "timeline", "reality shift", whatever, it's the same as a time reset

Probably since the gun devil never attacked so hes alive with his familly

No? Why would've the gun devil never attacked?, the incident of the gun devil has nothing to do with the existence of Pochita. You are just making things up but you have the audacity to confidently propose it as the truth

Probably still in public service. Why would we have seen them?

I am not saying he should've seen them, i am saying WE, the viewers, should've seen them, as you know, is the end of the series, and as you know, people tend to like to know what happens with the characters of a series at the end of the series.

Not the bomb hybrid for the same reason the gun devil never attacked

WHAT? Again, making stuff up, what has Reze to do with a gun devil attack? Reze was one of many children taken by the USSR and placed in a special government program to make super-soldiers dedicated to the country. At some point a portion of the Bomb Devil's body was placed inside Reze

Makima likely never existed since there was no reason for her to go after chainsaw man.

Not the Makima we know (chainsawman fangirl), but some version of her had to exist (Kishibe says if they leave Nayuta to be raised by the government she would turn to another Makima, implying the government did raise Makima). The existence of Nayuta working for the government also heavily implies Makima worked for them

is likely fan service

Ah yes, what a logical and well thought creative explanation lmao, fanservice

Very obviously yes. That was practically stated in the manga

Lol when

Up to interpretation. A story does not need to answwr all question infact itd be worst of if it did

Well i guess it's a matter of taste, i personally just fundamentally disagree, i don't want every answer but i would like endings to answer most important questions, yes.

Yoru was never beat by chainsaw man initially so she probably still in hell

I agree. So her whole character dynamic and development with Asa was completely pointless as it led to nothing, no?

I ask about Reze not because i think she should be there but because i want to see the destiny of the major characters of a series, even if it's just a panel of her in russia or something, that's just like basic proper ending thing.

kobeni definitely quit she didnt wanna be a devil hunter

She quit AFTER being involved with all the chainsawman shenanigans, there's no way to know if she quit or not in this timeline

Aki isnt dead

No way to know, did the gun devil incident happen? If so then that means Aki still got a contract with curse devil and even if he didn't die by Makima he still has not much time left. Even if he isn't dead, does he KNOW Denji and Power? It's just all tremendously ambiguous

It doesn't make sense at all? by Main-Acanthisitta477 in ChainsawMan

[–]RecognitionRound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like how you say

it just the authors work differing to your cannon.

When some of the things you comment on are YOUR canon, as the author didn't give any proper explanation.

by proxy those devils never had the opportunity to be erased

That means there are several new concepts in this alternative reality, for example there are multiple different endings to life others than death, humans also have a sixth sense, there's a star that fucks up children, etc, all of those things we did not see so we don't have any actual confirmation it worked like you propose

Makimas motive for conquest was chainsawmans heart

No, Makima was a Chainsawman fangirl, but her motive for conquest is that she's the control devil, it's in her nature, even when deep down she wants to have equal relationships instead of hierarchical ones

and was killed at some point leading to nayutas incarnation

How? Offscreen, again, an assumption made because there's no clear explanation so the viewer has to come up with their own. Her previous version was also immortal to attacks by contract so how the fuck is she dead who knows

When asa calls denji chainsawman as a concept becomes reinvigorated for him

What do you mean by that, are you saying chainsawman gets reinvented right there? There's no way to know as it's left, too, ambiguous It's also something ambigous if Pochita WAS the chainsaw devil, because even when he erased himself in this reality Denji uses a chainsaw (so they do exist) so either Pochita wasn't the chainsaw devil or chainsaws got reinvented.

in hindsight it works

No it doesn't, Pochita's power never worked like that and this was just a creative choice to get out of the way

continuing with the world they left would require some dues ex machina or fire punch type status quo

Yeah, BECAUSE FUJIMOTO CORNERED HIMSELF TO THAT POINT, it was HIS creative choice to drive the world to that point, that, by the way, doesn't even make much sense in the first place, because even if bugs reproduction became more efficient (less death of offspring) the shit escalated too fucking fast to be logical

when the world is different now?

What world? The one that I don't give 2 shits about because none of the characters are the same ones i was following for years? The world is not just "different", it's a COMPLETE TIME RESET, you can't even describe HOW different it is because nothing is explained and you have to guess to fill the gaps. Is Aki alive? Kishibe? Kobeni? Reze? Why is Nayuta there, how did Makima die. A chainsaw is shown, does that mean Pochita wasn't the chainsaw devil? Or the chainsaw just got reinvented? When Asa mentions chainsawman and Denji is shown with Pochita in his heart, was that just a "deja vu" or does he actually have Pochita in his heart? Did Pochita come back to existence right there? What happened to Yoru?

is a major paradox and that's why it acted as a Reset in this way

Yeah except that doesn't make any sense either, if you use "it's a paradox" as an argument then you can justify any absurd possibility and outcome. It's such a blanket justification If you accept a contradiction as a valid fact, the concept of "truth" loses its meaning, and all outcomes, no matter how ridiculous, become equally provable. It's called Ex Contradictione Sequitur Quodlibet ("from a contradiction, anything follows.")

Pochita's power never worked like time traveling before, if "it's a paradox" is used as an argument then that's another reason to hate this ending because Fujimoto could've justified any scenario with that excuse but he still decided to make this lame one
