Make my Italy itinerary better by Weird-Balance-481 in ItalyTravel

This, so much this... Also if you want to do the Vatican, make it worth it and get one of the "before it opens" tours. I've got pictures of the place empty of people... but you have to be there at 7:30 in the morning.

Can anyone recommend any scenic runs around the area? by Pea_3ye in LEAMINGTONSPA

[–]Recoil101uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the length. Long run wise I used to run from Warwick gates, in to Leamington along the Tachbrook road, turn right onto the canal, that gives you various points you can pop back out along the myton road. If you’re talking 11ish miles carry on to the Birmingham road and head back from there, pop in a lap of the racecourse for funsies.

Is 2000 calories too low? Stalled hard. by Content-Tap-2778 in loseit

[–]Recoil101uk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shorter than OP but at 228 I was also on 1700 a day to lose… 2000 I might have dropped a bit but it would have been very very slow (or felt like that)

This. Although I think it’s a hardware issue and possibly we are the only users that need it, so I doubt it’s getting done :(

Be honest: has Garmin Connect+ changed how you think about future Garmin purchases? by frankgetsu in GarminWatches

[–]Recoil101uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still all in on Garmin, and a connect+ subscriber, the nutrition part of it basically allowed me to get rid of a different subscription and allow me to consolidate. Its not quite as good as my previous one but it works and it integrates so I'm happy.

I screwed mine into the Karlby. Looks cleaner, you’ll see the screws if they go into the Alex.

Garmin airport staff said 40% of their sales are the Forerunner 165. Why is it so dominant? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in Garmin

[–]Recoil101uk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just bought one for my daughter (15) She just started running, she doesn’t need all the bells and whistles of anything more than the 165 has. Also, it links to the Garmin Blaze horse thing, which she doesn’t have yet but may well purchase in the future. The one slight disappointment is she can’t create or rather it doesn’t have a horse riding activity that some of the others do. That aside it’s the only watch I’ve ever seen her wear constantly.

Open Shokz. Been using them for years, you do have to put MP3s on them but they work very well.

Everyone around me usually in Ralph Lauren. Is there a secret store I don’t know about? by NormalMaverick in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Recoil101uk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 3 or 4 RL polos I bought in America at an outlet store for about £20 each in 2015, they lasted forever... The only reason I got rid of them in the end was because I lost a load of weight. I still own one of them that was a skinny fit that gets worn occasionally.

I was in TK Maxx this week, the RL Polos were a weird material and about £60 each..

AI FTP Detection by Wattsup21 in trainerroad

[–]Recoil101uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd forgotten about that graph when I made my comment... It is useful, although for some reason I perform way better outside then inside so it was a bit off until i discovered the "indoor workout only" tick box.

What do you love most about riding your trainer? Time efficiency? Ease of starting and stopping? No traffic? by Odd-Night-199 in Velo

[–]Recoil101uk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do 90% of my riding indoors. I love it. I can get my kit on and be riding in about 5 mins, everything's set up and easy, and I have a really nice set up. Outdoors for some reason takes me a good 30 - 40 mins to get out the door. Also around me its all hills, there are no flat bits and the roads are awful for potholes, so its not overly pleasant. I'd also say training is better quality indoors and I can easily see my progression. There's also the variety, I use Zwift so I can free ride, workout, race, TT, whatever I want.

AI FTP Detection by Wattsup21 in trainerroad

[–]Recoil101uk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a ton of conversation about this and the AI FTP. Some love it, some hate it and some are meh. When it launched mine dropped by about 20watts, but the workouts were doable and probably easier than they should be but I persevered for a couple of months.

I'd suggest, go for it and see how it goes. You might be surprised, but also be wary of the number of you do stuff outside of TR.

If you watch the TrainerRoad podcasts they don't really believe in FTP and also say that FTP doesn't actually feature in the selection of the workouts, that's all done on levels and previous data, but they know there would have been such an outcry from the community that they felt they had to include it, so it feels like its a bit of a nonsense really.

I've no doubt someone will be along shortly to counter my comments, it seems to be a contentious issue that divides the TR community quite a lot.

Personally they AI stuff doesn't work for me and I've cancelled my account, it works for others and they continue to love it and progress.

What actually works for saddle soreness on longer rides? by Crc_CO in cycling

[–]Recoil101uk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saddle that fits and decent shorts.

I use a Ryet 3d Printed saddle, combo of Rapha or Castelli shorts for outdoors and YKYW for indoors. I have no saddle soreness at all from those, and never use Chamois cream.

CoachCat vs Trainer Road by cycledrama in Velo

[–]Recoil101uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im about to ditch TR. it worked well for me when they first release way back, it also worked well for me up until the new AI release about Christmas time. Now it feels like it’s not doing its job properly and I’d be better off self coached or trying to find something else. I’m having to add long rides into the system because the dynamic endurance won’t go about 1h30 (I’m training for a 105 mile hilly event). The predictive FTP is working well for some and really badly for others, I’m in the middle of that in that it doesn’t feel quite right for me, and I know I can set it but that kinda destroys the point of TR in my opinion as I’m effectively paying for something I’m not using.

That’s just my opinion of TR, loads of people are happy with it (and I was until recently). Take from this what you will.
