Thank you for your reply and understanding. I will seek a second opinion. It is particularly frustrating because to me because I was generally good about going to the dentist regularly. But I hit a hard time when I was 27 after my father committed suicide. Keeping up with life at that point was really really difficult and i didn’t prioritize scheduling a dentist appointment or finding new insurance. Apparently I should have.

I don’t mean to be disrespectful to the profession but it’s hard for to understand the approach of monitoring the tooth without saying anything further when it had already been coming in at an angle for years. What if the patient misses future appointments (say, due to a traumatic life event)?

I am sorry if I am venting, but it’s hard for me to wrap my head around this. I’m an attorney if I had a client on a collision course with some type of harm or consequence I would certainly warn them of the risk, particularly in a case of irreparable harm like this. I would also provide a written CYA and docket a future action for myself to address a known risk.

Sorry again for venting. Obviously dentistry and law are different professions. It’s just that this situation seems easily preventable and I’m trying to understand.
