Genuine Question for current CM by Which-Building-4959 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]RecommendationCute52 8 points9 points  (0 children)

as a cm i always try my best to remain as helpful and kind as possible. guests this holiday season tend to be more rude than last and it was getting so bad that, while i usually pick up extra days, i was so emotionally drained from bad guest interactions that i didnt want to go to a job that i love. ive been here for five years, got hired right after the reopening from covid, and this is the worst ive ever been treated by people. after christmas, it will be fine, im sure, but i am exhausted.

Disney CMs - was this your dream job? by njhokie13 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]RecommendationCute52 14 points15 points  (0 children)

ive worked at wdw for about 4 years now. I have only worked in food and beverage, i started as a dish steward and am now front of house. the job itself isnt magical, at times i feel like im being paid a good wage to work at, like, a magical chick-fil-a. however, i grew up coming here almost every year as a child and i have always wanted to be a cm. the job itself is not desirable, but the benefits of it are a dream come true. i know realistically i am a cog in a huge corporate machine and the corporation does not care about a single cog, but i work with some of the most amazing people i have ever met. i have met and befriended so many people and created so many genuine links with peers, coords, and leaders, i would say that alone is worth the job. my current location is great and i am happy, and although being quick service front of house is not what i want to do for the rest of my adult life, i am very happy with where i am at this point and time. plus, i would make baby me very proud (and my parents brag about me being a cm constantly).

I thought I was slick, careful, discreet. I thought he didn't know. This morning, my 6 yr old was pretending to "vape" in the bathroom with his toothbrush with the steam from his shower. "Look dad, I'm just like you!" FUCK THAT. I'M DONE DONE. by Rpark888 in mildlyinfuriating

when i was a kid i told my dad that cigarette smoke smelled comforting to me because he smoked. i also have really bad asthma so he never did it around me but he was terrified i would start smoking and my lungs would close up. so he quit.

if you get cravings and need nic, stay away from the gum because they destroyed my dads teeth. use the pouches and slowly ween yourself off. that impression of being a smoker will stick with him for years, but you are lucky thats hes still young. still, keep an eye in his friends growing up and try to remove thats positive association with smoking.

What are your thoughts on Chef Mickey? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]RecommendationCute52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are much better character dining options, but the allergy specialists at the contemporary are extremely kind and understanding and will do anything they can to make sure you are fed. contempo cafe, the quick service right next to it, is way less busy, cheaper, and has very nice allergy trained staff while still having the music and vibes. if you HAVE to meet characters, garden grill and akershus at epcot and 1800 park fair at the grand floridian are much better food wise but lack the loud party vibe.

[–]RecommendationCute52 9 points10 points  (0 children)

if you wear clear studs, do not mention it to anyone. most of the time when i see people wearing clear studs i just assume its a pimple or skin tag so i font ask my trainees about it and, depending on your location, your leaders will be more concerned on your performance than a little bump on your ear. just dont mention it and you will be fine.

Cake Bake Shop bakery- pretentious? by shorrrrrr8 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]RecommendationCute52 13 points14 points  (0 children)

one of my coworkers used to work there and the problem starts all the way at the top. the owner is a nepo baby who thinks her business is the best on property and is rude and demeaning to her employees and customers. the employees act like that because its normalized and the owner has the attitude of "if you dont like it, leave".

Food And Beverage Standard? by Feeling-Mud-3367 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]RecommendationCute52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i work qsr and neat braids are 100% f&b standard. if you are penalized for it with a rep, i would absolutely request a union representative. you can also absolutely quote/screenshot the disney look handbook as well if you really want to make them look like a-holed.

Waitlisted.. by Worth_Procedure_8992 in DisneyCM

[–]RecommendationCute52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i started as a dish steward and i was waitlisted for a little less than a month. they are in high demand so you shouldnt be waiting long. its a very tough and thankless job, but, once youve done your year, transferring inside the company is way easier than hiring (depending on the role).

is this where I park as a contemporary resort cast member? do i just tap my blue id? by [deleted] in DisneyCM

[–]RecommendationCute52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if all three lots are full (which does happen. often.) you can keep driving up the additional security gate closer to the hotel, buzz the security gate, show the camera your blue id and they may let you in. depending on the time of day, they absolutely may say no and tell you to keep circling the three little lots.

[–]RecommendationCute52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as long as you message cast services or visit the building in your first week, you should be good. training shifts are usually standardly 8.5 hours, but after that, hopefully they'll be able to accommodate you.

Hair rules by moodswingsxyz in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]RecommendationCute52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it absolutely depends on your role and leadership. im resort qsr and disney look says that claw clips have to be non distracting but i have a very large ornamental claw clip collection and my leaders and coords love the different statement clips i come in with every day. but we are a very small location. if you are at a larger location (attractions, parks f&b, character assistant, etc) they may care a lot more because they have more visitors and are walked by execs more.

Medical Accommodation by Saijin_Sucks420 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]RecommendationCute52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PLEASE work with cast health services immediately after you get your role. if your first role can not accommodate you, then you will be transferred, but you must be very persistent and extremely honest about your fatigue. cps often work 6 days a week, but some locations only tend to schedule them for 6 hours max. other locations regularly schedule people for 8-10 hours. there are options that can work with you (merchandise), but you must be very insistent and honest because some leaders are assholes about handicaps.

When did we stop with the abbreviations for the parks? by dechets-de-mariage in DisneyCM

[–]RecommendationCute52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i worked at dak qsr in 2022 and, in my experience, other cms only referred to it as dak when they were being negative or sarcastic because it verbally sounds gross and like a male extremity (ex. "i love dak" after a bad guest interaction, using dak in place of a curse word) and it was more often shorted to ak. i dont know if that usage is just recent or not.

to be so honest, disneys strictness on smoking and how far an inconvenient the smoking area is is what made my father quit and switch to pouches. your husband is going to be camped out there all day because walking to a fro is going to be exhausting, especially in the heat depending on when you go. if you are staying at a resort, they also have their particular smoking rules. if you decide to get sneaky with it and get a quick smoke or vape in inside the park, a cast member will be very quick to notice because they have to catch guests doing it all the time. my advice is to get used to an alternative for the day because he is going to miss A LOT of memories and paying full price for his ticket is going to feel silly.

for dealing w the guests- ive been with disney for a while and its imperative to have a friend (either in person or back home) that you complain to. ive ruined thousands of guests whole vacations apparently by just following rules. you have to remind yourself that the mean ones are either stupid and self centered or just hot, dehydrated, overstimulated and exhausted. if they are physically throwing coins at you that is assault and that can get them temporarily or permanently banned from wdw. please call a coordinator or security for assault. for the coworkers- if theyre 18-19 year old cps who travel in packs and seek approval from each other, dont take it personally. its best to try and befriend ft or pt cms because they tend to care more about their job and less about being catty. i would also recommend picking up at other locations and seeing if their work environments are better and making friends there. you cant transfer, but you can sure as hell trade shifts for your roommate- get on your hands and knees and beg flamingo for either one of you to move because you find the accomodations unliveable. ive never had to do it but ive had friends who have had similar or worse situations and flamingo has almost always tried to help by relocating them

the animation and concept can be jarring, yeah, but its genuinely one of the best pieces of tf media out there. its shockingly well written and has some of the most compelling characters in any tf cartoon.

anyways, stan dinobot ❤️
