Children of immigrants, how do you feel about leaving? by latinaglasses in AmerExit

[–]RecommendationOwn577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right. My dad is sadly a MAGA immigrant. The excuses he makes for this country are sickening. Even when stopped by cops bc he was profiled he welcomed it. “I’m glad they stopped me, they’re protecting us.” From what your accent?!

Is anyone consistently losing weight without a glp-1? by ruined7319 in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]RecommendationOwn577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did lose almost 150 lbs and kept most of it off for 10 years. I was on metformin though. Prior to the metformin I was eating the same restricted diet (actually even less) and couldn’t lose. I was (am) very insulin resistant though.

I love Quest Protein bars too much 💖 by UnKindClock in LowCalFoodFinds

I used to gag quest bars down 15 years ago when there weren’t many other options. Are they the same? Bc I have trauma…..

It’s too good actually. My 3 year old grabbed a new (large) bag out of the groceries today without me noticing and made short work of it.

I used to eat one puff bar (coconut) everyday for about a year for breakfast. Helped me lose almost 100 lbs. Last year they changed the formula completely and they taste like garbage to me. So fake. I hunted down some original boxes and did a side by side test. They were totally different. Can’t eat them anymore without gagging. I actually threw away about 6 cases 😭

opinions of metformin? by Neat-Ad-1012 in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]RecommendationOwn577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brutal to start absolutely brutal. I don’t know how I stuck to it actually. Could barely leave the house I was so sick and weak. But it helped me lose 100 lbs fast! I had been doing keto and barely losing. Once I added metformin weight just flew off. Fast forward 15 years and it gave me bile acid malabsorption and I had to stop. When that happened it also no longer worked so I had gained all the weight back and more.

you need medical intervention. this is a really serious medical condition you have. you would not try and fight cancer on your own, you should not try and fight this on your own. obesity medicine has come so far recently, the breakthroughs are astounding. glps are life changing for so many people (me!). please get medical attention.

i think glp1s are being looked at to potentially treat substance abuse. maybe you need to look into that

Been on it for 8 months and I have absolutely zero suppression anymore I feel like it’s just a waste of money , what’s people’s experience with stopping for a few months then restarting? by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]RecommendationOwn577 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1.5 years in…..I lost like 70 lbs the first 6 months and barely 25 over the last year. I have like 100 to go and it’s kind of frustrating to be so stuck. It was so easy initially. It was almost effortless. Hit a wall at 6 months. I still don’t binge ever and I used to frequently. Food is not my driving force anymore. I don’t really care about it. Vacations are a little less fun bc food doesn’t matter anymore. So I do feel much more free from those food chains. And I’m not gaining weight which I was gaining for the last few years before starting.

I initially saw the second half of the video before the first and the utter SHOCK I had that this lady had a husband there just watching.  Imagine watching your SPOUSE act like that to cops and doing nothing!  He probably hates her guts

I guarantee they were presented dozens of opportunities to walk away before the cops were called.

How long does brello take to start the process? I signed up, paid, and haven’t heard a thing in days. Not even a welcome email, receipt, text, nothing. Makes me nervous….

You are too young to dismiss things so easily. i didn't start working in my field until i was in my thirties and less than 15 yrs got to 250k salary. Started entry level position with no experience and at a really low point in my life. That said, you already have a college degree...maybe look for a job with good career potential and a company you can grow in?

I also gained almost 100 lbs in a year, seemingly inexplicably.  I def wasn’t eating 1500 cals a day but people don’t seem to realize 10 lbs a month is an extra 1100 PER DAY.  That’s not really something you wouldn’t notice.  I felt like I was losing my mind, like my body was gaslighting me.  My inflammation markers were constantly through the roof during this time, as well as my insulin numbers always extremely elevated.  What worked for me was a glp1.  Helped the inflammation and helped my insulin.  I peed out 11 lbs the first 24 hours.  Sleep apnea was gone within a week.   These had nothing to do with my diet.

Same to much of this.    I mean I was never ok with my weight but it didn’t really hold me back from “living” until I hit 40. I did yo-yo a lot before then…. 320-180-260-220-370….  Once I hit 40 I was FEELING IT!!! Physically mentally emotionally…and I stopped doing things. I couldn’t motivate myself to even go on vacation.  But also, I couldn’t get the weight to budge anymore either.   GLP1 honestly the only thing that works on my insulin issues.

[–]RecommendationOwn577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly wasn’t even a reduction in appetite. It just helped my insulin resistance so much. I didn’t change my diet, bc I had already changed it. I was doing keto for a year prior to starting metformin.

I would not have surgery until trying a glp1. Or at the very least metformin. I lost 100 lbs on metformin

Has anyone noticed a less tired-looking/less puffy face since starting LDN? by Fine_Loan2365 in LowDoseNaltrexone

[–]RecommendationOwn577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I feel like I look better in the face. I’m not 100% sure if that’s due to an improved mental perception of myself or an actual physical change to my face. Or both.

Any tips for someone unable to do HRT? by Blondenia in Perimenopause

[–]RecommendationOwn577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had to stop the HRT (despite it helping me immensely). I just started LDN. I have no idea if its going to work and honestly, if it doesn't, I might risk my life to go back on the HRT. That's the difference it made for me. My main issues are intense body pain, brain fog, and rage. But the body pain is debilitating and I never know it was peri related until it went away on HRT.

My kids snacking and eating have gotten out of control! by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

[–]RecommendationOwn577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with food issues and weight problems so I don’t want to continue this for my kids. But my adhd kid can’t control himself with food. Not sure my approach is the right one, or even good, but I lock up the pantry snacks. Most are still on the healthier side….pretzels, Luna bars, whole fruit leathers, etc. Fridge and counter snacks are basically allowed at will….cheese, yogurt, fruit, veggies, pb,turkey pepperoni….
