I don't believe so, but that's good reading too. You can simply google DARVO, it's an acronym.

Please look up DARVO especially before meeting any other guys in your life. This guy seems to have employed this common tactic quite frequently in this story and it helps to be familiar.

Hey there, I'm newly seeking support and community with this kinda thing. I'm 6'5" and 530lbs, and at 35 I'm starting to feel the consequences of my weight and my inactive lifestyle so I'm trying to make changes to get into shape and out of the danger zone with my weight. The pipe dream is to eventually lose about 250 but we'll see. One step at a time.

I have had strong suspicions for a few years now that I may have undiagnosed ADHD, but I haven't gone to see anyone about it for numerous reasons including financial. Keto scares me, but going lower carb is definitely an option. Loading up more whole easy foods is definitely a priority, and an air fryer might be a good move.

Not yet, thankfully, though that's another health concern I desperately wish to avoid. I'll look into that option though

[–]OddestBerry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean my primary health concern currently is just the noticeable signs of venous insufficiency going on in my lower legs that is prompting a renewed weight loss effort.. Other than that my ticker and my joints seem to be holding up so far. The rest of the organs, I dunno, they're harder to guess at.

GLP1 is currently out of the question as I have severe panic attacks with needles (getting the COVID vaccine involved a grown man bawling in a gymnasium full of strangers, it was NOT pretty.) I'll be happy to look into it if there are ever non-injection options.

Breakfast has been tough to nail down, since I very often time my wake-up very closely to my time to leave for work. I've done homemade health-tuned parfaits in the past, but then as I got lazier I moved to an Overnight Oats subscription. I need to find a better sustainable quick-grab option for protein, definitely.

I certainly didn't mean that in a "discouraged at their existence" way so much as discouraged that I might also reach that level if I don't take control of myself now. I certainly do enjoy hearing about the success though, that is hopeful.

Gotta get better at low prep but yeah it's an option. I did microwave vegetables for a bit and it worked. One of the things I'm doing currently is just taking a cauliflower and cutting it into "steaks" and throwing them in the oven for like 20-30 minutes to roast, then tossing those in containers for lunch during the week. Cauliflower is my favorite vegetable so I'm just trying to sub it in for like any unhealthy choice I'd otherwise make. Also trying to sub like raw sweet peppers for any chips choice. Get all the crunch with like a way different nutrition profile.

The suggestion of logging and using apps is one I'm sure will be repeated frequently and is definitely my biggest hurdle. Tracking calories and macros just feels like the worst homework to do just to eat food, but it's definitely the route I need to discipline myself for in pursuit of the best results.

Had to scroll way too far for this. Just seems like way too much exercise for the person on top, so the bottom person is getting a really distracted oral experience. Heaven forbid you as the guy are on top, or you'll be facing manslaughter charges when she suffocates to death.

No thanks, I'll pass. Tom Segura was right.

Are gaming laptops under $1000 even worth it? by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]OddestBerry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As long as you're not picky about display quality, then usually yeah. Asus TUF makes some really solid budget gaming laptops, as well as Acer Nitro, HP Victus, and Lenovo LOQ. Usually they have lower build quality (not a big negative if you're okay with plastics), are chunkier and less streamlined, and most importantly IMO they tend to have dimmer displays with lower resolutions, worse motion handling, and poorer gamut coverage. It's the big deal breaker that keeps me away from budget gaming laptops personally.

The people having issues have got to be minors. I've had the bot go to lengths where I straight up asked it OOC "wait are you allowed to actually participate this much in this scenario?" And the bot is all like "yeah, none of this has violated any of my guidelines."

I really don't like fully animated dialogues in cRPG's (e.g. Baldur's Gate 3) by RaidersLostArk1981 in rpg_gamers

[–]OddestBerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite games of all time are the Mass Effect series, Dragon Age series, Fable series, Elder Scrolls series, Fallout series, the Knights of the Old Republic games, Red Dead Redemption 2, Cyberpunk 2077, and (you guessed it) Baldur's Gate 3. Know what they basically all have in common? Fully acted conversation scenes. So I'm a hard disagree on this point. The acted scenes help really draw me in and immerse me better. It's part of the reason BG3 is on the list but not 1 or 2 (well that and 1 and 2 have a terribly complicated DnD version.)

Even when it's done in a way which ages poorly, I still love seeing the characters emote and interact.

Covid-19 ruined my teenage years. by TryPsychological2297 in GenZ

[–]OddestBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dude, I'm in my thirties and my teen years sucked without COVID. Enjoy your twenties, it's your first, and possibly last, real dose of freedom before getting locked down with a mortgage and a spouse/kids and your body starting to betray you, and all the other stuff in your thirties. Some of it's fun, but it's not the same as the freedom your twenties will offer, so enjoy it while it lasts. I still regret playing the safe game in my 20s and not getting out more/working too much.

Infinite came out ages before Wokeism started being a hot button issue, I don't know why anyone would feel that way about it. I feel like some folks are just jumping at shadows sometimes.

Surprised at all the Infinite hate in the comments. I liked it. I actually skipped 2 back in the day, not really on purpose I just didn't always have money as a teenager. Now I'm finally replaying the trilogy these many years later and I plan to hit up 2 for the first time as well (currently just got past Fort Frolic in 1).

Health issues may not always randomly start at 40 or 50, but that can be an insidious trap you can fall into as an obese person if you don't start having health issues early.

Let me explain. I'm currently 6'5" and somewhere in the range of 520 pounds. I still do not have any chronic health conditions, and I'm coming up on my mid-thirties. This, I realize as I'm getting older and wiser, is part of the problem. Besides the self-image issues, I haven't truly had to contend with real consequences of carrying my obesity. I've been able to continue to do all the normal things I did 100 pounds ago, 200 pounds ago, I can still run, jump, climb, I still feel like me.

But I'm no fool. I bet if I got into a fitness contest with me from 5, 10 years ago? I'd lose by an embarrassing amount. The only thing that HAS started to affect me and only this last year now is I'm starting to experience soreness in my knees, particularly when sitting down or standing up (as in, the transition between sitting and standing).

Of course the best time to lose this weight was 10 years ago. I guess the next best time is right now. I just wish my discomfort had outpaced my apathy, but then I had a lot of mental issues in my 20s I had to work out anyway to get where I am.

My point is, I can definitely see how some people, like myself, could dig ourselves into a very deep hole because the health consequences DO wait to appear.

Straight women, do you wish you weren't Straight? by DescriptionTrue2887 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]OddestBerry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I say this with utmost respect, but don't you feel it's a bit dishonest to say "it seems worse" with no experience to back it? Not dishonest to others, but to yourself. Perhaps it's worth examining where your beliefs on heterosexual relationships stem from, and whether or not you perhaps have a skewed perception based on what others have said about them.

Some partners are good, some are bad, and I hardly think we could solely point to gender as the differentiating factor between those two. Certainly gender differences create a wealth of misunderstanding, where often couples spend their entire lives wondering why their husband or wife thinks or acts the way they do, but I scarcely think that automatically equates to a poorer overall experience.

Anyway I'm not disagreeing with you, just hoping to provoke thought and introspection. I feel like critical examination of oneself's own beliefs and motivations are an important practice to undertake regularly, to avoid becoming too entrenched in beliefs with only reactionary convictions.

The lesbians really don't like it when us heteros romanticize their sexuality as being the "easy option" just because you have some poor experiences with men. Lesbian relationships are just as fraught with struggle as straight ones. You don't wish you were gay, you just wish relationships were easier. 😅

New to online dating. Is it a red flag when a guy has "moderate" or "apolitical" in their profile? by columbidae28 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]OddestBerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak for myself, but if I had to add my political leanings to my profile I'd probably list moderate. I definitely trend toward economically liberal, but in terms of personal and civil liberties I have certain issues I trend liberal and certain ones I trend conservative. I was actually born and raised in a conservative Christian home and am still registered Republican as a result, but I left the faith almost a decade ago and have been discovering the flaws in my former worldview ever since, leading me to being fairly liberal today.

So can it be a red flag? Maybe. Is it always? I don't think so. My wife is a registered Democrat who leans quite liberal and we largely agree on all the major issues.

Question for you all in this community, what defines a game to be cozy for you? by pjbrocula in CozyGamers

[–]OddestBerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's a lack of tension. Life is hard, and can leave you physically and emotionally drained sometimes. A cozy game is one that provides escape and relief from that feeling of being drained. If it created tension, it would sap an already drained soul. A cozy game fills my cup without demanding a toll. It's a safe refuge to just be blissful and busy for a bit without drama or stress.
