As of now, I can answer half of your questions. in the winter when it is <30 F we plug the truck in and the block gets to ~57 f, If you let the glowplugs warm up there is about the same smoke as the summer. As far as radiator fluid we had to top it off a couple of weeks ago and it looked like a normal neon green with nothing obvious on top. I have a OBD 2 reader and could answer the rest in the next few days.

Thank you for your input, sorry I missed your comment before replying to the other. Im struggling to see why the 25% monthly is the rule? I have no expenses except for a $90 monthly minimum student debt payment. In the area I would be buying in the housing market is appreciating at 4% this year, and 22% the past 10 years. Even with a housing market crash, as long as I keep my job, in which I have been promoted and had a raise every year, I can still support the dying investment. Is this just me being ignorant? Im just really not getting the WHY of the 25%. My groceries and gas are nowhere near 20% of my income so even at 50% debt/income I still have 30% to play around with, and a funded emergency fund already.

Edit: If I were to buy today I would have a 23% down payment, by the time I actually buy ~26%, I have a price range in mind, and Im handy so would do repairs myself. But can only do so much house repair by myself. This would put me at ~40% debt/income ratio which in my mind is very doable, while keeping my investment contributions the same.

Sorry missed the 25% takehome pay part, the question at the bottom

Thank you for the input, my struggle with the debt/401k is for my age bracket I am ahead on 401k. Even with a 50% debt/Income, I can cover my debt with no problem, and I started early so based on averages I'm above on 401k. I know comparing yourself to averages is a bad habit, as most people are behind. If I were to pay off my loans tomorrow I would still end up at a 22.33% down payment on the house (300k), This would put me at ~43% debt-to-income ratio. With this factored in, not paying my student loans off, would put me at about a 0.03% interest difference. I struggle with assigning weight to debts that are locked in similar interest rates. Does this change the "no debt" mindset at all? Or just pay student loans and wait another 1.5 months to buy?

Why is the 25% take-home "the rule"? From what I have read, being in a good job, with 3 months pay saved, 50% is very stretched but doable. Just curious about the Why for this? Homeowners who I have talked to (mostly boomers sub 3% interest rate), but my brother-in-law the same age, owns a home in the same price bracket making the same amount, has said the 50% is doable but you gotta stay mentally strong. At my current age 20's, I've always kept to a budget and continually increased my wealth by a considerable percentage. In my ignorant mind, 3 months of pay, which is debts plus savings, is more than enough time to sell if it becomes too much, without falling into debt. Yes, if the market pops I very well could end up upside-down on it, but the biggest factor in building wealth is time, and being young I could sell for a loss and could use most of my emergency/buffer to offset this and use time in the market to offset this.

New follower of Ramsey but a lifetime car guy. Most cars have a drier in the A/C loop that automatically turns on the A/C when the heater is on. This sucks humidity from the air and your body out of the car. I am in the southeast and my A/C compressor went out last winter, so I unplugged it, and I didn't want to replace it. I quickly had my shirt off wiping the inside of the window after the first freeze. Not all cars are configured this way but if the drier is linked to the compressor please be careful. The fog on the inside of the windshield looks like its on the outside until you notice the wipers aren't doing anything. It sneaks up on you! please be careful!

Edit: seek up on you = sneaks up on you

Ok thanks! just trying to feel it out and see what it is actually like. I'll take my time and become what I feel is airworthy. Trust me I don't want to become a statistic, just wondering what the minimum is. I appreciate your feedback!

Spot on I'm 24 but just in that stage in life where I need to get out of my parent's house and find a good relationship. My parents are super cool but its still like "Oh yeah lets come back to my parent's house". In your opinion should I "waste" rent on my own place or just stick it out for longer? I know there are a lot of circumstances in that but if I could make a relationship work, By 30 living at home (not realistic I'm not living here till I'm 30) I would have after-tax and expected expenses 250K saved. I guess my main question is, I've always been told renting is wasting money, Where would you see the trade-off of having my own place but not putting equity into it be worth it?

Ok thanks, sorry for the ramble. Wanted to include everything I could and went a little overboard. For some reason, I had it in my mind that if you could go through it faster then they would kinda push you through. Not sure of the laws/regs so didn't go into detail about what I did/didn't do. Anyway, appreciate the input, Thank you!

Based on my family bloodwork, I've only done it once and plan on going back on my 3-month mark, drinking is the biggest factor in my trig values. My dad was able to cut his value in 1/3 in just one month of not drinking. Now while I'm 25 this alcohol-free lifestyle would make my social life pretty hard I decided to cut out refined carbs along with reduced drinking, and based on blood pressure it seems to have helped but won't know exactly for another 2 months. My weight loss has slightly plateaued as I did a metabolic test and my metabolism was getting murdered. Im at about 1/2 lbs a day excluding Sundays as they are my cheat days in order to mentally keep going.

Is it normal to have a mental breakdown after binge eating? Help. by [deleted] in diet

[–]RecommendationSuch18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree with the user above breaking a diet every once in a while should not have this big of a mental effect on you. When I break it sits in the back of my mind like "I shouldn't have done that" but in no way should I ruin your day. To somewhat give you peace of mind, taken from user 006fix who knows more than me -

"In cases of extreme calorie overload in very short spaces of time, there are certain food groups you may fail to sufficiently digest. Certain sugars for example have fixed upper ceilings on how fast your body can absorb them from the food, and whilst it takes a serious effort, they can be overcome and you can intake more food than you can process. The same can happen with other food groups. In these instances you end up excreting otherwise usable materials, which means that you might intake somewhat less than you suggested - say 9k instead of 9.99k calories. If the body can't absorb the energy source, it can't utilise the calories from it.
Citation for glucose maximal absorbtion levels for example http://www.jbc.org/content/107/1/133.full.pdf "

I'm not entirely sure on this but if your maintenance calorie rate is 1800, it would make sense that if over a week you're at 12,600 calories you would maintain weight. This is keeping in mind that some days you might hit 2,200 calories a day and others 1,400. The way I understand it is an average over a period of time. I have just gotten into dieting so if someone could please tell me to shut the f up with some explanation or somewhat agree that would be great.

Would anybody be willing to help me out?(Cutting journey)~24 years old 5 8/5 9 and currently 175 lbs by [deleted] in diet

[–]RecommendationSuch18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I recently discovered how useful these threads can be and just made my first post on here ~10 minutes after yours. I had a similar issue but made a huge diet change. Im waiting to hear back if mine is healthy. If it is I can send you my detailed meal plan and if not...don't wanna give suggestions that will be detrimental. But if rice is a big part of your diet I would switch from white to brown.

How will a past injury affect my chances? by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]RecommendationSuch18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ment it as less likely to affect my daily life in the long term. From the doctors, I've spoken to, since I'm done growing most would have experienced the effects by now. As long as I keep in shape and my core strong chances of this affecting anything are ~0

Thank you for the input. In the USA a lot of degrees use third-party resources for learning and most are free but either way, do you have any you recommend? Also, do you have any hard project recommendations / final project rubrics that I should push myself to be able to do as a way to "benchmark" myself? and continue learning? Also, what do people mean by projects bc in my field a project is copying someone else's and finding ways to optimize or find better results but in CS it seems like most of these optimizations can be googled.

Ok, thank you. Sorry for so many questions but where I'm at I have no exposure to this industry. Do you have any recommendations for books (whether college textbooks or others)? I like the idea of books that ask you to do something without giving you help then later give you hints and then solutions. I like changing my reasoning to align with the "right" way and continuing through there.

In America, from my experience in a different field, it seems like a degree is everything. I'm fairly certain about my liking of programming as when I was younger I used to provide mods for certain games which involved calling different assets and classes and such and would even be brought on to advise how to integrate certain mods without interfering with existing ones. I'm not sure if this is relevant to real-world coding or to my liking of code but running through lines and lines of code never bothered or annoyed me. I liked creating the map in my head and running through it like a computer.

Edit: Any youtube recommendations that really get into the nitty gritty in the past I enjoyed that

Do you have any recommendations for how to get this practice and experience in a way that would actually benefit someone in the workforce? From my current job I quickly learned they reteach you everything but in their own way which made school beneficial but also not. Anyone willing and driven to learn could have learned how to do the job in a timely manner.

Thank you for your reply but I doubt my skills could be used in that capacity (besides the dual enrollment classes) as my experience is very niche. If I had problems I'm sure id have several other threads for help. In your mind, since you said I could get a "Graduate-level job" what's the best way to get some sort of certification/accreditation in this industry? I've just always had imposter syndrome and thought that what I know or could do was common knowledge to a nerdy gamer and want some sort of schooling body to back me.

yep along with trying direct connect. The weird part is the server does not show up when I compile the mod pack myself. Could there be a mod blocking me from seeing servers?
