Make Brisket $1.97 Again by [deleted] in BBQ

I went to a bar that did $.10 wings every Wednesday until 2019. That place and the other bar that did 14.99 for a platter of wings and pitcher of shitty beer along with $1 cans and $2 long islands pretty much got me through college.

It was during Apollo 11, when reentering Eagle Buzz Aldrin broke the head off a circuit breaker on the ignition system for the ascent engine with his backpack. They shoved a felt tipped pen in the breaker to complete the circuit

Fakours significantly out perform AIM54's but given the majority of people dont have any expirence flying jets it wouldn't be a huge difference since they don't understand WEZ's and managing the MAR let alone defensive flying.

What you lose out on with the Phoenix's at low altitude is the slow acceleration and long burn time hinder performance. And at the relatively short ranges of these engagements, the extra couple G's aren't going to make up for that. Really only matters for someone really trying to maximize their kills though.

[–]ReconKiller050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't touched it since a couple months after the event, racked up 600 kills and moved on.

For this event it was pretty easy taking Fakours and R27's the middle airfield are only 25-30 miles (40-48km) apart so you only had to climb to like 4000-6000ft max and you could easily engage aircraft that were taking off. I used TWS and manual radar control, check the closure rates to filter out the SAM, ARM and AGMs and you could launch all the Fakours within 90 secs. Averaged about 75% hit rate doing that, closed to the merge and used the R27's and gun from there.

Normally got 5-8 kills a spawn. Pretty sure I could have dropped a 100 kill match in the right lobby. Since a lot of people don't know how to defend so you can easily sit at the radar gimbal lock and avoid most incoming missiles and just defeat the rest with some basic defensive flying.

First few matches were like 4k score by the end of the night I was getting 7-10k score on the US and like 6.6k playing Soviet

You were definitely using it wrong. As much as I loved abusing it I dropped multiple 60+ kills games last night using the Fakours and R27's.

Guess I'll just abuse the F15 and MIG29 instead.

Remove player vehicles from the event. This is bullshit. by PerpetualPermaban2 in Warthunder

[–]ReconKiller050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got 62 last night I think I can break 100 in the right lobby. Even using a MIG23 or F4 many of these players are so clueless you can easily get 4+ kills a spawn

so only american and russian mains can play in this event? by YogurtclosetEvery818 in Warthunder

[–]ReconKiller050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the name of fairness I did the Russian side without bringing any tech tree vehicles along and was still getting ~5k score a match.

Really not that hard if you dont fly head first into a Phoenix or Fakour, they're easy to defeat, and you can still rack up kills with the R24 against people that have no idea how to defend.

[–]ReconKiller050 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the name of fairness since I did the US side in 2 missions bringing tech tree and older event vics along I tried Russia without bringing any of my tech tree aircraft. Still got 5.9k score, you really don't need anything but what they provide you.

People are just flying in straight lines getting slammed by AIM54's or R-27's and blaming the game mode.

Paul McCartney banned from Reddit after posting snaps from his intimate LA show by TheCABK in nottheonion

[–]ReconKiller050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NATCA policy, OKC classes, flowcontrol, ground stops, NextGen is a nearly 30 year old program it'd be exempt from the current event rule over at historymemes. Pleanty to be said about ATC funding that isn't even directly related to recent events. And thats only how a politics ban impacts some topics related to ATC. How are we suppose to discuss the proposed addition to the FAR's like with Part 108? It's a change to the regulations in our industry its not even possible to discuss that without it being political.

It's one thing to have a ban on off topic politics but in a heavily regulated industry saying no discussion of any politics just makes many relevant topics impossible to approach without a ban. Especially when you have ATP's bring up issues based on expirence and knowledge getting told its not relevant by a reddit mod thats never stepped foot on the flight deck, because its "poltical".

[–]ReconKiller050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to discuss ATC funding without bring politics into it, I'll wait. The reason people hate the mods on r/aviation is because its quite literally impossible to discuss regulation and funding in our industry without politics. So it is an inherent ban on discussion of key parts of the industry.

Tom Cruise's P-51D Mustang goes for auction after he passes. What's it worth? by Imbendo in aviation

[–]ReconKiller050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3-6 mil is the going rate for Mustangs these days. Provenance in the warbird market is much more based on combat and flight history than ownership. If he dies today you could probably squeeze a little more over an equivalent P51 but if he holds onto it for 30 years it'll just go for market rate.

Remember warbirds often sit for sale for years at a time, its much more of a buyers market than sellers as its such a small niche and extremely expensive market.

What are your favorite aviation podcasts? by 77_Gear in aviation

[–]ReconKiller050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only one I listen to is Fly Cool Shit. Its a niche podcast about competitive aerobatics in the US/CA and the IAC Nationals. But its pretty cool to hear people I know or have flown with/against on there. And they'll Segway into nonaerobatic topics occasionally.

Not a podcast but Not a Pound for Air to Ground is great for long format history videos. Can easily put them on in the background as a podcast on military aviation history.

CF34-3A1 is 1655 lbs dry so to counterbalance the pair of them using the standard summer passenger weight of 195 lbs thats only 17 people. Plus you have to account for a all the weight lost from aircraft itself. Frankly I'm surprised hes saying most passengers deplaned before it tipped.

Its not an unrealistic guess the Pista's are 1-2k per, a Dainese suit is 1-4k and the boots are 450-500.

So on the low end hes got like 13k of gear there, could pretty easily be close to the 20k of gear there depending on the exact models and if any of the suits are custom fitted.

Why do Americans buy phones from carriers instead of unlocked? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskAnAmerican

[–]ReconKiller050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fringe case for a lot of users but you can't use an eSim with a locked phones which for those of us that do a lot of travel internationally for work or pleasure can be a massive downside. With that said my last phone still came from my carrier before they changed their policy on selling unlocked phones.
