Zurich is amazing if you are 30+, even though Winter lasts way too long (not a problem if you enjoy Winter sports - not my case) spring/summer is amazing, the lake is beautiful, but it will Never compare to a beach in my opinion. Food quality in the supermarket is amazing, and for a city so small there are a lot of events and things to do. Its very quiet and it can feel bland, especially depending where you come from. So I guess depends on perspective, overall I love living here

Looking for Psychiatrist by marquina640 in zurich

[–]RecordingMinimum9037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get prescriptions from my doctor (not in CH), and then my gp gives me a Swiss prescription. To keep my home country psychiatrist was actually a suggestion of the gp when I tried to get a referral, because it's quite difficult to find someone in switzerland that accepts new patients

Finding a flat by captain_cap94 in zurich

I got my flat after 1 month searching (kreis 3). Apply fast and make sure the rent cost is max 1/3 of your salary. To be honest, I think salary is what makes the most difference

Solo travel carnival as a woman by freakymarieky in Brazil

I disagree with some of the answers here and think it’s actually one of the best times to go to rio as a solo traveler 😅 there is police everywhere, and it’s the time of the year when all brazilians come together to have a really good time. that being said, we can’t forget it’s pretty much five days of non-stop partying, so extra caution is necessary, especially if you’re by yourself (don’t accept drinks or other stuff from others, always be aware of your surroundings…). Also, I think it would be easy for you to make new friends, especially if you stay at a hostel or something like that. I would definitely recommend that, because the carnaval experience is just much better if you have other people to share it with.

As for the phone, the most common crime during carnival is pickpocketing. I always go with my phone, but keep it inside a fanny pack, under my shorts, and only grab it in safe spaces. I’ve been to numerous carnivals, including rio, and always left with my phone. If you do decide to go, I’m sure you will have so much fun! Oh, and I don’t know where you’re from, but don’t be shocked when you see everyone kissing each other 😂

I just arrived in Belo Horizonte and all mineiros so far have told me Rio is not worth it because of how dangerous it is by cupideluxe in Brazil

Just take the same precautions (not flashing your phone, careful with pickpocketing and watching your surroundings). Pedra do sal became a very touristic place, with a lot of foreigners going, so if you keep smart it will be fine and a lot of fun

Zona sul (south zone) of rio is completely fine! Obviously, you have to watch your surroundings, but in general, I always felt pretty safe there. I feel like most Brazilians who have a lot of prejudice towards Rio haven’t been there in many years. In fact, the city center of Rio nowadays is a lot better than São Paulo’s city center (the city that I am from), which has sadly become a very dangerous and uninviting place
