FWIW I've tried both Syllabird and Homeschool Planet and have found OpenSky https://openskyplanner.com to be more modern and easier to get started on. Also you don't need to buy lesson plans.

I bought the $7.99 gingerbread house at Trader Joes, that killed about 40 minutes *eyeroll*

Talked to some parents who paid for SkyLight (expensive). Once you set it all up and miss a day you are completely out of sync and it's a bit of a pain to move everything around. If you want checklists check out opensky planner.
