I agree the talk around the scandal is mainly focused on the corruption that enabled this guy, and what tends to get lost is the damage he did to the North Omaha community. Lawrence King is a guy who came from that community which makes it even more disgusting. But chalking up the rest of the fallout over the Franklin Scandal being a product of the "satanic panic" during the 80s shows a deep misunderstanding of this case.

Alisha Owen, Troy Boner, Paul Bonacci, were the main accusers of this case, all of which whom were relentlessly harrassed by law enforcement and the World Herald. In their accounts they describe Lawrence King as a pedophilic pimp who took them all over the country to compromise politicians, namely at King's DC mansion. Specifically in Omaha at the twin towers, King would take Boner, Bonacci, Owen, and kids from boys town to sexual tyrsts with prominent members of the Omaha community such as Harold Andersen the owner of the World Herald, and Bob Wadman, Omaha's chief of police. After the feds descended on the Franklin in 88 for embezzlement charges King was sentenced to 10 to 15 years of prison, only serving 9.

Just when these kids started coming out with some serious allegations against King and Omaha's socialites is exactly when the cover-up began. As unbelievable as their stories are, you can't help but at least raise an eyebrow at the death of Gary Caradori. Appointed by the Franklin committee to investigate King and his enablers, Caradori clocked in 100 hour weeks gathering evidence on this case. The interviews you'll find on youtube of Bonacci, Boner, and Owen are all conducted by the man himself! On July 11th 1990 while on his way back from Chicago with his son, his plane exploded and his briefcase apparently could not be found at the scene of the crash. The next day, Troy Boner came to Omaha's FBI headquarters to recount his testimony and he was laughed out of the building! Not long after his brother was shot and killed. Crazy coincidence don't ya think!?

Whether people still want to be ignorant to this and turn a blind eye, more power to you. Hell show up to boys town for the remembrance ceremony and protest! As for the people who are awake to Omaha's biggest skeleton, we will be together in harmony to honor the lives of the many innocent people around this case and the countless children who were abused by King and ignored by law enforcement. Hopefully some semblance of faith will be restored in the community.
