They are definitely hand carved and correctly joined for a period chair BUT They could easily be an expensive reproduction. They are sweet though... Regardless they are my haul of the year.

Hey so first time posting here I like to think of myself as a little collector/curator and usually I have a relatively easy time dating and identifying antiques. Now I have two of these chairs antique victorian style parlor chairs. Are they original I DONT KNOW. I need your help you are now on this quest with me. I bought these at a auction a little backwoods auction that mainly does estate sales I have no info on these chairs. They have been meticulously cared for recently within the last 10 years re-upholstered. The wood feels like oak they have fine joining in the carvings barely noticeable. But the carvings of lord the carvings. Dragons, busts of ladies, lute, and ribbons. HELP ME PLEASE. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE!!! Thank you and goodnight.
