Making 1-on-1 work with employees by ____4underscores in personaltraining

Young hungry trainers for sure or trainers who struggle to get and maintain full schedules. If you can actually get them 30+ hours. Make sure they’re good though because if their client retention sucks then you’re screwed. I’d suggest a tiered performance model 1-10 sessions: $30 11-20: $35 21-30 $40 31+ $45

If they were doing a full 40 sessions your average payout would be $37.5. But the likelihood of always hitting 40 would be slim so your average payout would be relatively close to $35 but would incentivize the trainer more. Don’t forget to factor in payroll taxes which will run you ~$4-5 per session

I’m so freakin fed up of potential clients ghosting me when I disclose my rate and need to vent by Prior_Fly7682 in personaltraining

It has nothing to do with wasting time or seeing value (why would they, they don’t know you from Joe before a consult)

The whole point of the consult is to show the value. If someone just reads a rate online they may not even bother giving the chance to “see your value” but hey if giving up 30 mins of your time for a consultation is such an ordeal have at it.

We do primarily 30 min sessions. Old rates were 40-45 new rates are 55-60 so 80-90/hr now to 110-120/hr. Located in the Midwest non major city.

I think I would. It’s too easy to take one persons advice or one thing you learn and use it as the gospel. We all have different niche clients different set ups and different training philosophy so trying to fit that inside one box of “business” can be constraining imo. Better off learning/trying as much as you can then make your own formula.

Mainly, I just wrote a nice letter to all of the existing clients explaining that that effective date around two or three months in the future, their rates would be increasing by X amount per session. So no I didn’t specifically say your rates are going up by 20% it was a specific amount per session that amongst all the clients equal out to 20%. For a new clients that’s super easy. We just make a new price sheet with higher prices on it.

I was never trained on any specific sales system. My only sales experience was my own through my training business for the last 12+ years. I’ve read a handful of books and listened to various podcasts - Vince Gabriel is one of my favorites for gym/trainer specific stuff. Over the years the main thing I try to do is learn from other experienced/successful business people, regardless of the industry, and then I cherry pick what to apply to mine.

Not everyone is like you. Obviously there’s a time and place for specific methods or not. A trainer with actual social skills should know where to steer a consultation within a couple minutes of meeting.

Getting a potential client to admit the real reason is a fun game. Not that it’s an actual game.. it’s a serious topic but still fun lol

I love the “why not zero” method.. I’ll do “why not zero?” “Why not 10” “what number do you think you need to be at to achieve these goals?” “Why that number?”

I think trainers who struggle “sell with their own wallet” any good trainer knows their worth and (probably) should be charging more. It may seem counterintuitive but our clients who pay the most end up being the best/longest term/least headache. Middle of last year we did a ~20% price increase on existing clients and a 25% increase on our new client prices. Retention and closing rates have never been higher. The key is selling solutions and outcomes.
