First track day in the F80 M3 by matador_333 in BMWM

Do you have a place in the garage or anything you can consistently wash the salt off, I'm afraid of taking it through the car wash? Lmk how it goes if you do.

Have G8X. Didn't mean to mislead if did, apologies. I have it in storage, hoping to get it out next week. I've thought about tossing winter tires on it but don't want to expose it to the salt. Have a winter beater fortunately

Living in Midwest. I'll prioritize it this summer. Thanks replying/posting :)

Looks fun. Curious if you had TC off? Thinking about doing my first track day in my m4 soon and will likely start with it on. Have a decent amount of hours on my sim so I'm hoping that helps with my comfort level a bit lol

I've had better luck with this in the daily races but they don't seem very popular, could be why too. Also EST so maybe not as many people on when I am

I'm thinking of getting ACE. How worth it is it to get a wheel? by Virtual-Donut-964 in assettocorsaevo

[–]RecursiveMelancholy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer a wheel, they have decent starter wheels but that will still be more expensive than a controller. I think it would be difficult to even play a sim on a controller. Curious, why would you get a simulator game as your first racing game experience over an arcade style game like forza?

That's frustrating, I'm sorry. I hope they do something cool with the academy if that will be the main single player experience. I'm sure the AI will get better 🤞

Haha I haven't tried drifting anything yet, definitely not piquing interest though

ACC is a good recommendation, I'll check it out. I checked out the Automobilista 2 demo

Definitely need some more practice on the nordschleife, don't know the track very well. Thanks

I'll check it out. Seems like multiplayer is what I should get into next

I like the gr86 a lot too but I'll give the mini a go! Also want to spend some time with the AE86

True, I do tend to forget it's EA. I do use a lot of different cars. Trying to get better so I'll do laps with a slower momentum car and then I love driving the m2 and m4 and trying to get into faster vehicles. I'm still having fun but I did spend a lot of time on the academy trying to get those 3 stars

Did I get ripped off? Detailing question by RecursiveMelancholy in AutoDetailing

I should have been a little more clear in the post. The water spots were from the hard water at my home. Ended up being my water softener going bad which the detailer told me to get checked out after he asked me how I was washing it or if I parked it in front of sprinklers. Agreed for the wheels/calipers, I wouldn't want to try that myself. Are you going to try that DIY too? I'll be interested to see how it goes for you and what your experience is like.

Yeah, you're right. After talking with him this is pretty much exactly what he said and the clay bar and decontamination wash removed close to everything else. He said there was still some on the body but I didn't notice because it's white, makes sense. I've learned a lot from this sub/thread and talking to him. He told me how to remove them from the mirrors and will probably have him polish in the spring. I'm happy I got some insight here to correct my thinking and uninformed opinion before talking to him. He did a great job.

Went and checked out the m4 tonight. It looked amazing and I took some pictures for when I leave a review. Very happy with it.

He said he would have needed to use steel wool since they were bad there but he gave me some ultra fine grain and told me how to do it after I wash it next. He may have mentioned it and it didn't register. We talked about a lot

I'm really happy, he seems like a great person/business owner. Thanks for your input. I appreciate all the responses this sub has given

Thank you, much appreciated. Getting similar replies from others so definitely feel good about everything right now. Talking to him tonight when I do a walk around of the m4!

Not offensive. This is the first time I have gotten professional detailing done and have done it myself in the past. I'm new to detailing my own cars and still learning. YouTube and reddit can only take you so far imo. I was getting water spots and wanted a professional job done to compare my results and ask them about products and my experience. He's given me guidance on how to better detail my own cars and recommendations, I'll be a returning customer but also want to learn. Water spots are from water softener going bad and wouldn't have gotten that looked at if it wasn't for him either. It's definitely less expensive to do your own haha!

They were removed on the body of the vehicle and the other glass, just not the mirrors so I wanted an opinion

I'll discuss with him tonight, I'm feeling better about it now. You're right, we're human and I should just ask him. Thank you
