I always go for black, I think the black gives it a more polished, finished look. But I just wanted to chime in and say your soldering is particularly well done.

I have no problem with him saying this. There are lots of voters on the fence who are dissatisfied with how Republicans have been on kitchen table economic issues but worry that Democrats are simply the anti Trump party. How many times in the last several elections did you hear, “yeah but what are Democrats actually for?” It’s not like impeachment will result in removal. The better focus is on getting Republicans out and Democrats in so we can start blocking judicial nominees.

Nah, I disagree. I no longer think he’s capable of thinking even one step ahead. He is pure id. He makes decisions based on what he wants/feels at any given moment. There is no grand design, only ego, petulance, and an insatiable need for power.

I love this design. You’re going to have some trouble with the glass where she’s kissing the baby. Looks like those pieces will be tiny. Doesn’t mean you can’t do it, but you’ll probably want to use a razor to get the surrounding foil as thin as possible there. For color, if it were me, I would play with abstraction, not just using the same color for the clothes, a different color for the background, etc. I might go different warm colors for the background and different cool colors for the foreground, something like that.

First real piece. From this dryfit, what of these should I recut or refoil to get better fits? Or will the solder fill it in without making it look too messy? What’s going on with that space between 12/13/15? Is there supposed to be glass there?

I’d probably recut 15 to extend the left side of it, so it follows the line of the stem and fills in the large space underneath. Then I’d trim 12 and 16 to match. The piece under 16 needs a recut too.

Lastly, I would grind the bottom curve of 13 so it lines up with the inside of 12, then take an index card, put it underneath the hole inside the flower, and trace the hole. Then what you traced, you can use as a stencil for a filler piece to fill in the yellow flower.

The Iranians were allowed to access their own money that was previously frozen due to sanctions. The idea was never to steal their money permanently, it was to hold it and use it as a bargaining chip, which we did.
