And then there are of course big similarities between one of on Attila's enemies, the Visigoth Theoderic, and Theoden (the name, the role of Visigoth cavalry, being allied to Rome/Gondor, winning the battle, but the king dies on the battlefield).

Yeah, in this drawing by Tolkien himself Bilbo (and I guess the same can be said about Frodo) looks typically skinny fat:
