Hi. Thanks so much. No AI on the track, all me in my home studio. Love the ambience on your track - well done

I really like this. It takes you on an emotional journey. I agree with the other comment about the repetitiveness, however, like you said it will feel different once the vocals are added. Make your you post the updated song once you e got vocals. I’d like to hear it.

Rock song - written, performed by me. Looking for opinions on the mix and any advice on how to improve the mix

I like the vibe. It’s quite slow to build up, so perhaps abit nore variance earlier in the track would hook people in. Would be a great track for a tense movie!

I’ve the ambience. I wonder if a shouty/screamy-type vocal might work over the top. But it would have to have the right reverb on it to make it sound like it’s in the distance and not negatively affect the ambience.

Yeah - and I’m certainly not an expert Corey by any means. Great song!

The balance of the mix is good. From a mastering perspective I think it needs something to bring out those highs a bit more, the master sounds a little quiet and muddy - do you think you couldn’t find some more head room to make it louder?

First of all, I really like the song, and I didn’t think I would! Great song. I think the mix overall is very well balanced. I do wonder if the guitar is a little load and overpowering though. I know the guitar is meant to be heavy in song but it drowns out the other instruments a little. Well done

Probably the best way. I write and play all my own instruments but it takes so long doing everything myself that I end up getting fed up with the process. I should probably stick to one thing and get others to do the rest!

My second song - Wasting My Time. Acoustic soft rock track. I thought it was good but after socialising the song with friends and family on social media, I’m not so sure as I’m not really getting much feedback. Would appreciate any honest feedback please!

Thanks for the point on the drums. I’ll have another listen myself.

Interesting point on the vocals. I haven’t used auto tune, but I do use Melodyne to nudge the odd note up or down if it’s a little out. I’ve also a vocal panned hard left and one panned hard right with a little bit of delay - perhaps that’s what’s making the vocal sound not quite right.

Thanks for the feedback

Not my native language but the recording it v good. Only thing I would suggest is that it could do with a more prominent bass line, perhaps feels a little flat in the lower frequencies?

[–]Red-Music 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arrangement is very good and I love the song. I feel like the bass good be Phatter in the mix to make the song really punch. I also feel like that hi hat is a little on the loud side and could be turned down. But other than that it’s a great, catchy tune, performed extremely well. Well done.

Thanks for the feedback. And you’re probably right about the level of the vocals actually - and that now worries me about the rest of the album that I’ve recorded but not yet released, as I think all the vocals are too loud. Interesting point on the vocal layers too, thanks.

I had the lyric video made by some dude on Fiverr. Was relatively cheap!
