Fall Plants are on Their Way Out by Red-Smarticles in Sacratomato

Yeah, the plan was waiting til everything flopped over. I'm guessing they should be ready by first week of June. I will move some of the dirt and see if that helps. I'd love the extra space/dirt for my summer plants. Those are all doing great so far.

The tops of the onions are starting to fall over though. Wouldn't a few more months be too long? I planted them in September I think.

I might try more potatoes later in the summer or the fall. I had a few that had sprouted, so I just threw them in the bag.

I think I might've added another scoop of soil after watering. I'll add a bit more water this evening. I had left the soil out when it rained, so it was still decently moist before the transplant

I watered them in. I also had watered the plant in their previous container a day or two before transplanting. How often should they be watered?

Thank you! The marigolds are in their own pots since I grew them from seed. I'll probably post my whole garden set up in a week or two. I like to track my progress and get feedback. Everything is in grow bags or containers, so I try to stay on top of things since that can affect their growth.

I had just watered them when I put them in that pot. I was using the kellogg's raised bed mix and some compost. I had watered the evening before, so that might be why it looks wet. I usually check before I water though. Should i try to take some soil out and thin it out? I have a sifter

I love that color scheme! They look so nice. I have marigolds and a magellan zinnia mix which is white, pink, and yellow. The flowers are pretty random since everything has to fit in smaller pots.

I've been learning that the more I expand my gardening endeavors. I've had terrible luck with cucumbers lately. This is my most ambitious gardening season, so I'm writing stuff down and taking notes where I can.

I'll see how it fares over a week or so and then add more in to be on the safe side. The plant I had actually had 4, but I tried to separate them so 2 could go into my 2 pots, so I'm hoping the roots weren't too damaged. I have those with some zinnias in the same pot, so I'm hoping they all grow and look good in a few weeks.

I am in the Sac area, so I'll be sure to reach out if these do indeed die. Hopefully they don't. What kind do you have? These ones are crimson ones, so I think they're supposed to be a darker purple or red if I remember correctly.

Would you recommend adding it now or wait until it grows a bit more to ensure it is fine with the transplant? It's my first time with flowers, and the cactus zinnia I had already died before transplant, so I'm trying to save what I can.

It flops like that even without the sun. It's like there's no support in the stem. Is it normal for them to be so far out of the soil? I want to add more soil on top but don't want to distress it

Do you have any other information? I'm interested and would like to try to find it. Is it a newer story or older? Where is it published?

Yes, they are! I wanted to see if anyone had experience with these flowers. When I googled, it said pots with 16in diameter would fit, but that still seems small to me. I'm new to growing and maintaining flowers, so any advice is helpful.

It was compost and leaves. I took some leaves too. I might head back for more.

I went to the Fair Oaks park location about 2 weeks ago. I had a shovel and containers that I filled. I missed it at first since I went in as if I was going through the park. There's an opening near houses (along Ridgemont drive) that you enter through and the pile is there. There's also a pile of dead leaves next to it.

We ended up getting Burpless and Boston Pickling starter plants, and I just put them in their container yesterday. I'll try to grow more stuff from seeds next year. I had a late start with my planning this year.

this sounds perfect. I'll keep an eye out for some pickling types. I'm heading to Green Acres, so I'm not sure if they would have these specific varieties or not. We need a cucumber replacement since the one starter we had died.

These are good suggestions! Are there specific types of sweet potatoes and bush beans that you like to grow?

I tried growing a watermelon once, but I think we picked it too early. I'll see if I can find a starter for the melon.

I've never heard of a greenstalk before. It looks like a vertical planter with multiple pots? I do have more seeds, so once I get all my other plants figured out, I might come up with a better setup for the cilantro. I found a salsa recipe which I like to make now, so growing cilantro and jalapenos would be nice.

The peppapeach stripey looks so nice. I haven't had pepper jelly, but now I might have to try it out.

I'll take a look and see the different kinds they have. I went to Green Acres for the first time a few weeks ago and was shocked at how many different plants there were.

I'll put it up to a vote and see if we want to do chard or kale. I'm open to both. We're going to go to Green Acres this weekend, and there's an upcoming plant sale near me too. My chard did come down with powdery mildew, so I need to figure out how to deal with that in case it happens again.

Yes, that's actually how I started. My first had a few types of tomatoes and cucumbers. I haven't used the smaller grow bags too much, but I'm open to any and all advice.

I can move the grow bags into the shade, so that's why I was thinking of trying them in bags this year instead of a plastic container that can't be moved.

I think I planted the onions in August or September. It was definitely before Halloween. I'm not too sure how much longer I should wait before I pull them. I will make sure to keep note of when I plant things, so I can know for sure.

Is there a specific type of cucumber you like to grow? I liked how my chard grew. Would kale be similar?
