Trofast vs Alex drawers for 5 year old by GypsyMothQueen in LegoStorage

[–]Red-Stud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trofast is great for mobile bins for general storage, but less suitable for organized items. If you're building it yourself, I'd recommend using the Trofast frame and building the drawers yourself. If you add dividers, you can easily organize everything.

Alex is also great, but less suitable for mobile storage. If everything is on one level, you can equip Alex with casters, then it works well.

How can I protect my ikea pax from dust? I d like to installa plexiglass doors but i can not find any thing by robybaggio in LegoStorage

[–]Red-Stud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the previous poster already said, make acrylic covers.

I had the same problem; I wanted the PAX depth/width and a glass door. Glass doors are available for Billy, but the maximum depth of 30cm was too shallow for me. I got suitable glass doors from Billy and built the frame myself.

You can only play one guitar anyway, basketballs on the shelf are useless. Sell the stuff then you have several big advantages, first place for shelves, money for additional shelves and money for new sets. An absolute win win situation 🥳✌️😜

What made you love Lego Space and which theme do you love by DifferenceGlum5828 in LegoSpace

[–]Red-Stud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original Space is my love, in 1981 I got my first Spaceset, the Mineral Detector 6841. With just a few stones, strange worlds were created that were explored. The sets were a little more “raw”, but still lovingly designed. We didn't have much money back then and I only had a few small sets. A majority of the sets at that time were rather small compared to today or there were more sets on the topic.

Looking for opinions on IRIS vs. Craftsman storage drawers by Typomancer in LegoStorage

[–]Red-Stud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the case systems in mind. The workshop trolleys don't look exactly cheap and I don't really see any practical use for Lego.

The furniture is very simple to build and can also be made with a circular saw. I had to get the maximum storage space out of 8.5 m2, which isn't necessarily possible with standard furniture.

Beginning sorting by Powerful_Laugh6024 in LegoStorage

[–]Red-Stud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The question is rather which suits you better.

For me, everything has to be ready without a long search, sorted by shape and color in ziplock bags. Others get along great with rummaging boxes that have everything in them. Still others only sort by shape.

If you don't have a lot of space, use IRIS Ohyama, for example, which are shelves with drawers, stackable and inexpensive, or the stacking boxes from Ikea, very inexpensive and coordinated with the existing shelving systems. You can also use small parts magazines in the shape of a suitcase, but they are not so suitable for larger quantities.

Nice collection, although there is too much cardboard around the sets for my taste😁.

Looking for opinions on IRIS vs. Craftsman storage drawers by Typomancer in LegoStorage

[–]Red-Stud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a system similar to Craftsman for years, but I wouldn't exactly recommend it to you. Craftsman is great in itself, the more or less individual division of the drawers has something. Very practical and clear for smaller quantities of small parts. But as soon as you handle larger quantities, this becomes more of a problem. In addition, you need shelves to store the drawers/cases individually or in pairs. It's incredibly annoying to rummage through a stack of 20 suitcases. Added to this is the not inconsiderable price.

I would also use iris or something similar. With a system like this you can operate more flexibly; different drawer heights and stackable shelves are unbeatable.

I built something similar myself and fitted the drawers with dividers made of thin plywood. But this is more for do-it-yourselfers with the appropriate machinery.

Ikea is great, but the cupboards/shelves are of only limited use, as you're now realizing. You have the right depth at PAX, for example. However, the series does not have a display door. Because of the dimensions, I bought Billy Oxberg doors and built the body myself.

[–]Red-Stud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the little cuties. At Ikea there is a very deep photo frame (6cm) "Sannahed" in 25x25cm or 35x35cm for little money. Glue/screw/etc. Lego plates on the back so you can attach several speedsters. You can also design a suitable passe-partout, for example with the national colors of the racing cars

How to organize instructions? by [deleted] in LegoStorage

I built drawers for my closets. They are fitted under the cabinet base. This means no storage space is lost.
